"Blinded like a racehorse" The problem with the world today is that most people are too engrossed with the lives of others, be it their favorite sportsman, singer or celebrity/ idol. They read everything about that person and indulge in social media content about them whenever they can. This is just like a racehorse that is blind to its surrounding. Blinded by their lack of focus on self, they forgot to ask "who am I?", thus failing to uncover their own uniqueness and God given abilities. When you do not spend time understanding yourself deep enough, you won't be able to uncover your real potential. For e.g. You do not know what makes you inspired for a moment and then demotivated the next second. Since all of us are designed differently, what worked for another person may not be for you. The realisation of what you actually need in life is a personal discovery. "How can you be happy?" is a personal question. "What are you capable of?" can only be answered when you truly understand yourself. A word of advice if you are still reading this post so far, 1) Do not waste time in pursuit of things that aren't important. 2) Do not be overly religious, being a sitting duck and praying won't get you results. 3) Do not associate with negative people because they will suck up your energy. 4) Do not be disturbed by issues that won't matter in 5 years time. 5) Do not entertain the naysayers, because they actually do not know you at all. (even your family or close ones) 6) Do not take business advice from people who don't have a successful business. 7) Do not wait for others to help you, instead show your best self, so people will seek you. The way to be successful in whatever you decide to pursue requires you to focus on you. You need to understand yourself, build your strengths and change your bad habits. #Learn from people who are already there. Thanks for reading and feel free to add in your views. I knew a man whose whole dream for success was, “I’m going to win the Florida Lotto, buy a hundred acres in North Florida, and open a first-class RV campground.” His dream never went anywhere. Sadly, he died nearly penniless. Your dream is your starting point. Pair it with a strong action plan, and carve your own path to success. Welcome to part II of how Hornsby Creative was born! In my previous post, I tell you about my job prior to diving in entrepreneurship waters. I had it pretty good! But, I can't pretend or was all roses and rainbows. I had my frustrations but I won't go into detail on that here. And it's not as important. Mostly I wanted to continue to grow and sometimes the only way to do that is to get outside of your safe comfort zone, switch gears and be willing to walk away when your at the top of your game to avoid becoming complacent. I wanted to both get back to my art and design roots a little and explore new territory. I wanted to build a business based on MY values of operating from a mindset of love and abundance, rather than scarcity and fear. It's an honor to be able to help others succeed and to support each other to be our best selves. I look for ways to do that daily. It's not all about me. ⠀ And I wanted better coffee and music on tap. ⠀ I'd love to learn more about you and your projects and passions as well. What motivates you to do your work?
