As I am sure many of you are aware, SpaceX had an anomaly just ahead of our planned mid July Space Norway ASBM launch. SpaceX did, as expected, an impressive turnaround in close dialogue with FAA and other important stakeholders to identify the root cause and to fix the problem, and are back in business after the FAA approval. The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) began to start building a constellation of unknown size with a middle-of-the-night launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The mission, dubbed NROL-146, featured an undisclosed number of satellites riding onboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Liftoff from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) happened at the start of a launch window that opened 1 a.m. PDT (4 a.m. EDT, 0800 UTC). The Falcon 9 first stage booster supporting this mission, tail number B1071 in the SpaceX fleet, launched for a 16th time. It’s first two flights were for NRO missions and it also launched a pair of Transporter rideshare flights. A little more than eight minutes after liftoff, B1071 landed on the SpaceX droneship, ‘Of Course I Still Love You.’ This was the 91st recovery for OCISLY and the 310th booster landing to date for SpaceX. In the lead up to the final Delta 4 Heavy launch with the NROL-70 payload, Dr. Chris Scolese, the head of the NRO, noted that agency began launching prototypes for its constellation “about five years ago.” “We recognized that we had challenges, as we’ve mentioned, with Russia and China trying to deny our ability to operate in space,” Scolese said in March. “So, that was one reason. SpaceX’s Starship is making waves in space exploration. Despite a recent reentry glitch, this mega-rocket aims to revolutionize the industry. "SpaceX is targeting Monday, March 4 for Falcon 9’s launch of the Transporter-10 mission to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4E (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. Liftoff is targeted for 2:05 p.m. PT. If needed, there is a backup opportunity Tuesday, March 5 at the same time. A live webcast of this mission will begin on X @SpaceX about 10 minutes prior to liftoff. Watch live. This will be the fifth flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission which previously launched Crew-7, CRS-29, PACE, and one Starlink mission. Following stage separation, Falcon 9 will land on Landing Zone 4 (LZ-4) at Vandenberg Space Force Base. Transporter-10 is SpaceX’s 10th dedicated smallsat rideshare mission. There will be 53 payloads on this flight, including CubeSats, MicroSats, and a hosted payload. To date, SpaceX has launched nearly 1,000 smallsats for more than 130 customers across our entire Rideshare program."

This Falcon Heavy USSF 52 launch is incredible to watch. Five million pounds of thrust thundering into the outer limits to its orbit. Cameras follow the side boosters separating; it looks like a incredible light show with close ups of boost back burn and booster entry burn streaking back to the Cape. You watch as entry burn wraps with sonic booms and all, as Falcon Heavy disappears into space to do its important work. SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket launched a secretive spaceplane for the U.S. military. Liftoff was from historic launch pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida occurring at 8:07 p.m. EST on Dec. 28, 2023. Rockets like this start with someone's dream.
