This includes designing buildings to withstand extreme weather events, implementing flood-resistant measures, and incorporating resilient infrastructure solutions.

The study presents an innovative approach for flood disaster risk assessment and ecological monitoring using Bayesian networks (BNs) and geographic information systems (GIS). By integrating diverse data sources, the BN-GIS model provides a holistic risk profile of flood-prone urban ecosystems in Yinchuan, China. This approach allows for mapping vulnerable hotspots, quantifying uncertainties, and informing sustainable urban planning and disaster resilience efforts.

A smarter city skyline for flood safety https://lnkd.in/dcNDU5Nn With climate change and rising urbanization, the likelihood and severity of urban flooding are increasing. But not all city blocks are created equal. Researchers investigated how urban layout and building structures contribute to pedestrian safety during flooding. Based on their simulated results, the team recommends modifying building corners and protective block layouts to reduce pedestrian risk.
