Josephine O'Reilly’s expertise in effective communication transformed our recent workshop on how to build engaging presentations into a game-changer for the UNSW STEMM Champions. Here are a few key takeaways: ⭐ Confidence through Congruence: align content, presence, and voice. Knowing that how we say things matters just as much as what we say. 🎊 Embrace Your Role: commit fully and connect genuinely. 🪐 Diverse Paths, Impactful Careers: STEMM isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey; our stories and diverse paths lead to impact. 📣 Advocacy and Influence: Beyond equations and lab coats, STEMM involves real-world problem-solving. We can influence policies, advocate for gender equality, and amplify our voices. Thank you again to Jo! As the Champions gear up for outreach events, they carry your skills and inspiration with them.

Today, it was all smiles as we gathered under the theme of "#inspireinclusion in Mathare. It's a celebration of the incredible accomplishments of women worldwide, a reflection on progress, and a call to action for a more inclusive future. "Inspire Inclusion" challenges us to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and foster environments where everyone, regardless of gender, is recognized and valued. Let's collectively commit to being advocates for change, ensuring that all individuals have equal opportunities and representation. Education plays a pivotal role in fostering inclusion. By promoting education for all, particularly for girls, we empower future leaders and visionaries. Let's work towards educational systems that embrace diversity and cultivate the unique talents of every individual. Gender equality is a shared responsibility. Men and women must stand as allies, working together to challenge biases and create a culture of equality. In doing so, we pave the way for a world where everyone can pursue their aspirations, free from the constraints of gender-based inequalities.

Modern education extends far beyond traditional classrooms. It encompasses various environments and is not confined to rigidly structured instructional settings. Consequently, societal and governmental viewpoints need to evolve, especially regarding global development, resource equity, gender equality, industrialization, and parity.

Today, as we celebrate International Girls in ICT Day, let us take a moment to reflect on the strides we’ve made toward gender equality in technology and the sciences. While we certainly have come a long way, this day underscores the critical need for more women and girls in STEM, highlighting how their inclusion will shape a more innovative and equitable future and bring more unique perspectives that drive creativity and progress. The significance of this day lies in its ability to inspire young women to explore and excel - it’s about creating an environment where girls feel encouraged to pursue careers in ICT, knowing they have the support and resources to succeed. We are not just advocating for gender diversity in STEM; we are fostering a culture of inclusivity that benefits everyone by enriching the pool of talent and ideas. Let’s use this day to renew our commitment to breaking down barriers for the next generation of female leaders. Together, we can ensure that every girl has the chance to contribute to the technological advancements that will define our future. 💜

Today, as we celebrate International Women’s Day, I’m filled with hope and optimism, reflecting on a beautiful shift occurring right at the heart of our communities - in our primary schools! At school drop off today I saw the posts and inspirational quotes showcased on the black board for morning reflection. It’s incredibly uplifting to see discussions about gender equality and the monumental achievements of women being introduced to our children from such an early age. Recognizing International Women’s Day in primary schools is a powerful testament to how far we have come and a reminder of the journey still ahead. It plants the seeds of equality, respect, and ambition in young minds, teaching boys and girls alike that their dreams have no bounds and that their contributions to society, regardless of gender, are invaluable. As professionals, parents, educators, and community members, let’s continue to support and amplify such initiatives. Let’s commit to being role models who inspire not just on International Women’s Day, but every day, fostering an environment where every child knows that their potential is limitless. Today, let’s celebrate the progress made and the exciting path ahead. Here’s to changing times, here’s to a more equal world, and here’s to the young minds who will lead us there. #internationalwomensday #equality #education #futureleaders

Although Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields are widely regarded as critical to national economies, so far most countries, no matter their level of development, have not achieved gender equality in STEM. 🔸33.3% global average percentage of female researchers and only 35% of all students in STEM related fields of study are women. 🔸30% of all countries with data available on the national share of women researchers had reached parity in 2016. On this International Day of Women and Girls in Science, let’s reiterate this fundamental message: women need science, and science needs women. Only by tapping into all sources of knowledge, all sources of talent, we can unlock the full potential of science, and rise to the challenges of our time. We need to celebrate this day and support our colleagues for gender equality! 💜

Making my first post on LinkedIn! As someone deeply passionate about women's empowerment and education, I feel it is important to acknowledge the strides we have made but also how much more needs to be done to achieve gender equality, particularly in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 5. Recent global events remind us that, while progress is being made in some areas, women still face immense barriers to personal safety, education, and professional development. These stories reflect the ongoing struggle for equal access to opportunities, highlighting the urgent need for global action. Education is the most powerful catalyst for change—empowering women not only to realise their own potential but to uplift communities. However, it does not stop there; we must also focus on educating society to build safer, more inclusive, and truly equal environments where women can thrive. I hope to contribute meaningfully to this conversation by continuing to advocate for women’s rights globally, in some shape or form. Let us keep working towards a future where women can achieve their potential and where gender equality is not just a goal but a reality.
