*TUESDAY TIP* this one is dedicated to a candidate that I met with recently who asked me why don’t hiring managers give feedback during the interview process? So here’s my tip for today - ask for feedback. if you apply to a role and you don’t get it or they tell you that they’re going in a different direction politely ask what was it about my candidacy that didn’t work for the employer? Most people won’t offer feedback up unless specifically asked. It’ll help you work on the pieces that might be missing and get better at the interview process! Good luck! Interview feedback can sometimes be a hard pill to swallow and in that moment you may want to run and hide. But it's also a great opportunity to reflect and grow 🪴 And from a hiring manager or recruiter's perspective, how you take on that feedback is a clear example of your character. I would take a moment to consider the feedback - is it constructive? Do you agree? Will this benefit the interviews in the future? I have seen decisions change based on how professional and self-reflective candidates have been in that process. 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸?   It sounds obvious I know, but it is amazing how many companies and recruiters are still not providing people with feedback after interviews. 😮   People invest their time and energy, during the interview process. It's a nerve-wracking experience. However, not receiving feedback can be incredibly disheartening. It leaves candidates in the dark, wondering where they stand and what they can improve next time.   But here's the thing –𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁 in the job market. Give. People. Feedback. I speak to a lot of candidates who say they went through an interview process, weren't selected, and weren't given any feedback. Before people start with the whole "It is too time consuming to sit and give detailed individual feedback" - think about how time consuming it will be to hire when word gets out that your interview process sucks. If someone has taken time to interview with you - they deserve feedback. It is as simple as that. They spent time in the background preparing - researching - attending. So equally, you should spend time giving them honest and genuine feedback. Feedback is critical during your hiring process🤔 I'm not just talking about the hiring manager's feedback after the interview... One thing I often find overlooked is the candidate's feedback. As a hiring manager, it is so important to get feedback on how your interviews are received. Is your process too long? Are you trying to throw curveballs? Have you made the requirements clear? You, the interviewer may have loved them or felt indifferent. However, Is the reason you’ve been looking for 3 months because there’s a “lack of talent” (doubt it) OR do you need to rethink your interview process? 🤷🏾♂️

Navigating the interview process 🧭 There’s nothing worse than prepping yourself for an interview, having an interview and then hearing… zilch, nothing, nada 👎 Feedback is so important for candidates whether it’s good or bad and not providing prompt feedback reflects on your company negatively 🥴 🔷 Even negative feedback can help candidates prior to any further interviews 🔷 You don’t want to miss out on your perfect hire due to slow feedback as they will lose interest if you haven’t shown them enough interest 🔷 It’s just a sign of respect as it shows you value the time they’ve taken to interview with you 🔷 People talk and you wouldn’t want any future roles being affected by bad comments that this employer is a waste of time etc You can be a cracking company to work for with the best benefits but if you get this part wrong, it will mean nothing ❌ So please just make sure you’re getting this bit right 😊✅ #recruitment #interviewfeedback #recruitmentadvice
