🌟 We’re proud to highlight the incredible work of our RAPP (Relationship Abuse Prevention Program) Summer Leadership Program, where students are being empowered to lead and advocate for healthy relationships. Recently, 18 of our Peer Leaders collaborated with URI’s Abusive Partner Intervention Program (APIP) on a unique visual project. Drawing inspiration from APIP’s "therapeutic journey" themes, these students created artwork that now greets everyone who enters the APIP office, symbolizing safety and inclusion. A special thank you to our dedicated coordinators—Jahan, Erica, Kenyan, and Sherry—who made this project possible. This collaboration is a testament to the power of youth leadership and creativity in fostering positive change. 💜 Discover more about our impactful work and join us in building a safer future. urinyc.org #TeenDatingViolence #RelationshipAbuse #DomesticViolence #IPV #HealthyRelationships

On March 12th and March 20th, the AnnieCannons team attended the “Allies Training: The Nuts and Bolts of Survivor Engagement”, facilitated and created by the Survivor Alliance team. This training is designed for helping organizations build pathways for survivor leadership and engagement on their teams and prevent harm and re-traumatization through cultural norms, policies, reflections, and shared language. Our team spent time discussing ways to address biases and to build new trauma-informed structures within our organization. We discussed: ✅ What does the path to allyship look like? ✅ How do we want to codify survivor leadership and inclusion at AnnieCannons in policies, protocols, and our org by-laws? ✅ How do we want to build paths for survivors into leadership positions at AC? These discussions aren't just words—they're a reflection of our unwavering dedication to our students. By actively engaging in these conversations, we're not only evolving as a team but also enhancing the support and opportunities we provide towards a more inclusive and equitable future for all. We at AnnieCannons are committed to continuing our training with Survivor Alliance with their Trauma-Informed Practices in the Workplace. We are so grateful for their team! And we look forward to sharing more as we continue to learn and grow as a survivor-centered organization.

#SaveTheDate We’re excited to invite you to the third edition of our engaging online dialogue series - #LeadershipDialogues. The previous deliberation in February 2024 was an introduction to why must the local governance systems focus on #ChildProtection and what can be done specifically in the context of #FamilyStrengthening (FS) and Family-Based Alternative Care (F-BAC). In the upcoming Leadership Dialogue, we plan to further deep-dive into the role of local governance bodies in prevention and gatekeeping. We would focus on the diverse gatekeeping practices at the local level, including community-based mechanisms, that work towards ensuring every child has a family. Besides, we would deliberate on ways to strengthen local governance bodies to promote FS and F-BAC, while also celebrating the role played by some key stakeholders on this front. 🌟Theme: The Role of Local Governance Bodies in Prevention and Gatekeeping🌟 🗓️ Date: May 29 (Wednesday) ⏰ Time: 3 PM to 4:30 PM (IST) 📍Virtual (Zoom) To register, scan the QR code or click here: https://lnkd.in/gFFn7H6x

📢 PSA: This recently released guide, ‘Building Youth Leadership in Violence Prevention’ from FVREE is a fantastic resource for professionals and practitioners seeking to engage with young people as part of their various programs of work. FVREE, a specialist family violence service in the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne, has created the guide, in partnership with young people who have graduated from their Leaders for Change Program. Engaging with young people through consultation, collaboration, and co-design is a critical part of our work here at Deakin and the broader sector, so it's great to see the creation of a resource that: ➡ offers practical strategies for program development, ➡ provides advice on facilitating engaging sessions for young people and, ➡ introduces creative approaches for gathering feedback. There’s useful guidance to foster effective consultation, including the need to be flexible, ensure you hear from young people directly regarding their needs, preferences and concerns, consult with experts for insights on recruitment and obtaining consent, and (most importantly!) to compensate those who share their time and contributions appropriately. As we continue to look for ways to improve our practice and to learn from others, it's great to see resources like this being made widely available! Access the resource: https://lnkd.in/gt9zDe5t

Y'all, let me tell you something..... I am living my best life! I've had the distinct honor to speak and teach at conferences over the last couple of weeks (#Safety24 and MAD SCCi), and next on the list is the Region VI - American Society of Safety Professionals PDC from September 18-20 in Virginia Beach, VA. I'll be teaching a 4-hour version of my "Leading with CARE Tactics" leadership development class at the pre-con and then giving a talk later in the week called "Use CARE Tactics, Not Scare Tactics: Refining Safety Through Science." In addition to the talks, I will be representing the ASSP Northern Virginia as a liaison, where I will introduce some speakers throughout the week. A little birdie told me some of my safety friends will be there, such as Pam Walaski, CSP, FASSP, Tim Page-Bottorff MS, CSP, CIT, Brandy Zadoorian, CSP, CSD, and Christina Roll, MS, CIH, CSP. I can't tell you how pumped about that! Also, I need to give a shoutout to another safety friend, Heather White, MIE, CPE, ASP, who will be teaching a pre-con on Manual Materials Handling: Risk Assessment and Solutions. If you don't know Heather, she is a LEGIT person and ergo-master! Let me know if you will be at the #RegionVIPDC #ProfessionalDevelopment #LearningTogether #CARETactics #ChangeChampions
