The Women’s Philanthropy Institute at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy has researched giving to women and girls since 2019 and found that while the overall amount has increased over the years, it’s never exceeded 2% of overall charitable dollars. Melinda French Gates walking the talk 👏 “Decades of research on economics, well-being and governance make it clear that investing in women and girls benefits everyone. We know that economies with women’s full participation have more room to grow. That women’s political participation is associated with decreased corruption. Because I have been given this extraordinary opportunity, I am determined to do everything i can to seize it and to set an agenda that heps other women and girls set theirs, too.” Next week, Melinda French Gates will start a new chapter of her personal philanthropy, with $1 billion in spending for people and organizations working on behalf of women and families around the world. “As shocking as it is to contemplate, my 1-year-old granddaughter may grow up with fewer rights than I had.” French Gates is working to change that.

If you don’t want to make changes to fund equitably or with local organizations, then be honest and don’t put those ideas into your mission statement." Our Chief of Staff, Hafeeza Rashed, is quoted in an impactful new report from the Network of Engaged International Donors, highlighting the need for global philanthropy to adopt a racial equity lens. Read the full report, which includes insights from Moore Philanthropy, to explore practical choices donors can make to go beyond values statements and deliver greater impact globally. https://lnkd.in/epsSwxRG
