We had an incredible time this week in San Francisco co-hosting an inspiring gathering with our friends from Next Legacy Partners, Forward Global, Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund - SV2, and the Global Philanthropy Forum! It was truly special to bring together like-minded individuals working on urgent issues affecting women and girls, each from different angles. The energy in the room reflected our shared commitment to making the world a better place. Thank you to everyone who joined us for a memorable evening of connection, collaboration, and impactful conversation!

Catalyzing unprecedented resources for the advancement of women and girls.
About us
Women Moving Millions is a global community of individual philanthropists who have each made a minimum $1 million commitment to advance gender equality. To date, WMM members have collectively committed nearly $1 billion to organizations and initiatives serving women and girls worldwide. By supporting members to leverage their collective voice, influence, and resources, and by creating opportunities to amplify their impact, WMM pursues its mission to catalyze unprecedented resources to build a gender equal world. We do this not just because we believe in gender equality, but because it’s a smarter, more effective way to foster a better future for all.

A huge thank you to Funders for LGBTQ Issues for spotlighting Women Moving Millions' work and amplifying our mission! We loved sharing how we're committed to radically transforming the way women and girls experience the world, especially as we gear up for 2030, a pivotal year for gender equality. In this Q&A, we discuss hitting a major milestone that is fueling our ambition to do more, our approach to cultivating community and supporting members throughout their philanthropic journeys, and the critical importance of resourcing the intersecting movements for gender equality and LGBTQ+ rights (special shout out to our Board Member Jennifer Rainin, a dedicated champion of this work!). Lilly Ledbetter was a trailblazer whose fight for equal pay transformed the landscape for women's rights in America. Her tireless advocacy led to the passage of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act in 2009, a landmark piece of legislation that still protects workers against pay discrimination today. We honor and remember Lilly, and we also recognize that her fight for economic justice continues. In a recent article by our former Board Chair, S. Mona Sinha (Equality Now), and WMM Summit Speaker Zakiya Thomas (ERA Coalition) featured in The Associated Press, it’s highlighted that in 2023, the gender pay gap not only persisted—it widened. Progress has slowed, and women, particularly women of color, are facing increasing wage inequality. This persistent pay gap undermines women’s economic security, career growth, and their ability to thrive. To honor Lilly Ledbetter’s legacy, we must continue to push for fair wages for all women and ensure that equality isn’t just a right, but a reality. We can achieve this by leveraging our collective power and influence to push for the ratification of the #ERA, which would enshrine gender equality in our Constitution and lay the groundwork for addressing systemic inequities. ✊🟰 Let’s unite and continue the fight for #EqualPay, honoring Lilly's legacy and striving for a future where every woman receives the pay she deserves. We had such a lovely time yesterday in NYC hosting an event that explored the interconnected nature of gender equality and democracy. 💡Our main takeaway? When women lead in politics, business, and civic life, we see stronger democracies, peace, and economic stability. Thank you to our incredible speakers - Daniella Ballou-Aares (Leadership Now Project), Nazanin Ash (Welcome.US), Fatima Goss Graves (National Women's Law Center), Sarah Haacke Byrd (Women Moving Millions), and Chisun Lee (Brennan Center for Justice) - for driving such an engaging conversation. Your insights on increasing women-driven resources to strengthen democracy and raise the visibility of women leaders in this work inspire action toward building a more inclusive, just, and equitable world for all.

On #WorldMentalHealthDay, we're reminded that mental health is a fundamental human right. According to the World Health Organization, women are nearly twice as likely as men to experience anxiety disorders, largely due to gender-based inequalities. Today, let’s take a moment to reflect: 💭What’s one thing you’re doing to care for your mental well-being? 💭How will you support the mental health rights of those most at risk so that together, we can continue to build a world where all women have full autonomy, freedom, and agency over every aspect of their lives?
