Continuing our new series for awareness in Parkinson's, I'd like to share a recent text we wrote about challenges in diagnosis of #parkinsonsdisease The new biomarker development supported by The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research is encouraging in this regard, as are some of the initial results we have from our own #WALK devices (reveal coming later this year). There is an urgent need for better ways to classify the #parkinsons spectrum in a therapeutically useful manner

#Rheumatoid patients with concomitant #anxiety or #depression may have higher disease activity than those without anxiety or depression as measured by clinical composite scores of disease activity such as DAS28. However, a comprehensive #ultrasound (US) evaluation shows similar levels of disease activity in both groups, indicating that US may be a valuable objective tool in the assessment of joint #inflammation in these patients. 🔗https://lnkd.in/dKsQzfrm

Comprehensively assess laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) symptoms and their severity during your diagnosis with the Reflux Symptoms Index, a nine-item self-administered #reflux outcome questionnaire. The RSI score ranges from 0 to 45, with scores of 13 or greater being indicative of laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) diagnosis. The most commonly recognized symptoms of LPR include hoarseness, vocal fatigue, excessive throat clearing, chronic cough, postnasal drip, globus pharyngeus and dysphagia.
