The U.S. Embassy in Belgium supports American companies with community engagement initiatives across the world and in Belgium in particular. Ambassador Adler visited the Coding Summer School from Boeing in cooperation with ThinkYoung – a Brussels-based think tank focused on youth. Together they create STEM initiatives for youth in Belgium. Over the past seven years, ThinkYoung and Boeing have trained over 1,400 students in coding, 60% girls. Such a great demonstration of our transatlantic ties! Stay tuned to learn more about the initiatives we support.

can anyone help with this?
Hey LinkedIn I am wondering if anyone can help us, we would love to hold a big graduation for 3000 of our stem passport for inclusion students. We want to bring them together in one room, have some cool speakers and celebrate the fact that 3000 girls from DEIS schools are graduating with a STEM qualification from university. We want mams dads, and teachers to come too. This maybe the first graduation in their family so we want to make this great! We have one issue though- we have no budget whatsoever to do this! Is there anyone on here who has a kind heart and deep pockets who might want to sponsor this event??? We would love love love to host it in somewhere fancy like the convention centre or croke park or the Shelbourne (lol)- again we have no budget for this so we need help! You can email me on katriona.osullivan@mu.ie with some support or you can share this with your rich friends 🤣

Every year, January 24th is observed as International Education Day. It’s is a day that lets us celebrate the transformative power of knowledge, understanding, and learning that transcends borders and unites people from all walks of life. Today, we honor the immense significance of education as a catalyst for progress, empathy, and global harmony. This year’s theme is Learning for lasting peace. Education is the beacon that illuminates the path to a brighter future. It empowers individuals to reach their full potential, equipping them with the tools to create meaningful change in their lives and communities. It is through education that minds are ignited, dreams take flight, and the world becomes a better place. In a world often divided by differences, education serves as a bridge, connecting cultures, fostering dialogue and collaboration, and promoting mutual respect. It instills a profound appreciation for diversity, nurturing compassionate and open-minded global citizens. Education empowers us to look beyond our own perspectives, encouraging us to embrace new ideas, challenge assumptions, and seek innovative solutions to the global challenges we face. Let us cherish the teachers and educators who tirelessly dedicate themselves to nurturing young minds, inspiring a love of learning, and shaping the leaders of tomorrow. Their passion and commitment are the driving force behind the transformative power of education. May International Education Day serve as a reminder that education is not merely a privilege but a fundamental right for every individual. As we embrace the power of education, let us work together to create a world where knowledge flourishes, opportunities abound, and every person has the chance to realize their dreams. The video is from the pupils of Wesley School for the deaf. They are sharing what education means to them. We are grateful to instructors like Olaoluwa Bayonle Emmanuel for the amazing work they are doing for inclusion of the deaf and hard of hearing pupils to get a chance at learning. 🔧🪛💻We are preparing in a special way for the 3-day "Celebrating Inclusion in Education" conference at the UNESCO HQ in Paris. 🎁As a consortium partner of the Erasmus project IFIP (International Platforms of Inclusion Practitioners) in Education - we present a poster, but we also have surprises for the participants. They can join us for an easy-to-make, yet enjoyable short interactive session in the conference exhibition hall. We show practical activities that give participants a small insight into our work. ✋We take the “hands-on” in hands-on learning seriously. Kids with little or no experience in abstraction can reach understanding through physical experiences, thus taking steps in their learning process that would otherwise not be possible. ⚽️🍎We don't teach course material (facts, concepts, techniques) directly. Instead, we get kids engaged in and lead them through projects, letting them absorb knowledge without even realizing that they are learning. #DigitalEducation #FGHD #DigitalLiteracy #Dignity #EducationForAll #UNESCO

💬 "You may be worried about entering a STEM field where you don’t see a lot of people who look like you. As a first-generation African American, I understand that. A vision of #Inclusion that will #ElevateEducationOutcomesForAllStudents. This is what we work toward for #InternationalSchools where the principles of #GlobalCitizenshipEducation and #InternationalMindedness are, when read, already inclusive. It's time to put those principles into practice.

I had an amazing opportunity to speak at UNESCO last Thursday to a full room at the IFIP-UNESCO's Global Inclusive Schools’ Forum. The text of what I said in 8 minutes about the relationship between #Inclusion at #InternationalSchools and in national systems, and the accompanying slides, pictures, and links are here: https://lnkd.in/d878Q_cp I thank the #IFIP (International Forum of Inclusion Practitioners) for a great conference, trusting me with both coordinating a cohort of 10 parents of children with additional needs to attend the conference, speaking at one session, and moderating another. Thank you Daniel Sobel, James Blomfield FRSA, and remarkable Renate Pruessmann. Thanks to Leo Thompson 🌱 (Edsplorer) who moderated the session and also made the original introduction between Daniel Sobel and I. Thank you to my 3 fabulous co-panelists who all put on great presentations at the Global Inclusive Schools’ Forum: Jasmane Frans, Cheryl Chalkley, and Clemmie Stewart. Please give scrolling through the text of what I said a go, it's my favorite 8 minutes public speaking... so far. —— Some incomplete thank yous... I appreciate 3 years of learning, the opportunity to present at 4 conferences, and the privilege of being an Associate Director with SENIA International, with thanks to Lori Boll, Andrea Lillis, April J. Remfrey, Nicole Levina-Maria Demos (she/her/hers/disabled), and the whole “SENIA peeps” family. I am grateful to have attended Zero Project twice, to have learned good public speaking skills about making points in less than 10 minutes from listening this year to Sara Minkara, Thomas Bignal, Lydia Vlagsma, Breandan Ward, and many more. Thanks to International Director Robin Tim Weis for making space for our evolving conversations. I appreciate the ongoing amazing support of David M. Mroz and Glimmernet Technologies helping Parents Alliance For Inclusion grow its website, and Xoài David, for designing a great logo. I appreciate the belief and support of Parents Alliance for Inclusion's Advisory Board and Board that includes two of many great people in Paris, the brilliant Roslyn Dotterweich who listened to me rehearse my talk at a cafe; and the aforementioned Leo Thompson. Thanks to my blended parents and friends WhatsApp "team" at the Global Inclusive Schools' Forum that included Roslyn, Leo, Dan Harris FRSA, Christin Topper, PhD, Janice Bareng Pineda, Gerald Anthony, Juniette Kanga, Adeyemi Adewole, Alex Partridge, Manobina Chakraborty FRSA, Marcia Brissett-Bailey BSc, PG Dip (QCG), MA,IPSEA, Suzy Rowland, and Venessa Swaby (Bobb). Thanks to Vienna International School’s Parents Association of Learning Support Students (PALSS) and the PTA community PALSS is part of. Thanks for the belief and support in 2021 from former VIS Director Peter Kotrc, VIS PTA, and VIS Booster Club, that began this public journey. It is always valuable to thank people who have helped to arrive in the now.

If you've been to #SXSWEdu recently, you know a vast majority of the sessions are uninteresting and rarely go deeper than surface level. Well Nick Okafor from trubel&co, Shayla Cornick from Digital Promise, and I are hoping to change that. But, in order to do so, we need your help. Please vote for our session, “Integrating Culture, Society, and Liberation into K-12 STEM Learning.” If selected, this session aims to build community across those seeking to integrate culture, society, and liberation into K12 STEM learning. Our conversation will center around making #STEMeducation more inclusive and just, featuring liberatory models, youth civics, and innovative partnerships. https://lnkd.in/gKevgNGN

Creating value by integrating business and technology, and developing the talent that makes it happen.
STEM education – like all education – can open doors and reveal opportunities that people may not have known even existed. STEM education isn’t the path for everyone, but everyone does have a path. When we make STEM opportunities available, we’re giving a great gift: the gift of opportunity to learn, to seek, to explore, and to choose.
