I had the pleasure of attending the White House Initiative on HBCUs last week, and I left with some takeaways that are relevant for early career professionals. Takeaway 1 - Understanding the gravity of the moment. This was spoken of in the session 'Demystifying Data in Analytic Careers.' Understanding the gravity of the moment could ultimately lead to generational wealth in these types of fields because people generally don't want smarter computers, they want smarter humans. Another takeaway I had during a session I attended titled 'Harnessing Federal Funding and Programs that Support Entrepreneurship and Business Creation' is that $1.5 billion has been allocated to help expand digital broadband access. This can definitely create opportunities. @xispossible values its place in the ecosystem partnering with industry, academia, and the workforce, and realizes the impact of our HBCU Pathways Programs for high school students, our our CyberBiz program for early career professionals pursuing careers in STEM and/or business.

Some partnerships are transformative. It was remarkable to hear the story of how TD, Tim Clark and Lekan Olawoye built the OBSIDI Academy and how the talent that has graduated from the program are thriving at TD in various careers. It's a bet on black tech talent that they are both in for the long haul and have rightly challenged others to engage as well. Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay will be celebrating our inaugural 3DE graduates from four Tampa Bay area high schools next spring. These students are ready for their post-secondary experience either entering the workforce, military or college! In a few short years, we will more than double our graduates with a total of nine public high schools infused with the 3DE instructional model. Our 2022–2023 3DE school year report confirms how effective the 3DE instructional model compared to the traditional high school experience. The findings below make 3DE a must-have for all Tampa Bay area high school students. Together, we will increase student engagement, accelerate academic growth, and expand opportunity. VISION Gap Year Challenge Countdown DAY 3⏰️ There is a difference between my vision and my goals. In relation to the GYC, vision is where I see myself at the end of the challenge. Having that vision has shaped my goals. I am excited to begin this challenge in the next 2 days, the excitement will fade at some point😂 but the vision I have for myself as long as I keep it in mind, will keep me going. This can be considered the most important factor in the mentality needed to take on any worthwhile challenge. Our vision births our goals and guarantees our commitment and discipline. Associate's degrees and credentials in #IT can open up high-wage and high-growth labor market opportunities for learners. Unfortunately, structural barriers in access to and completion of these degrees and credentials continue to make it difficult for Black learners and workers to access and thrive in these programs. With support from Capital One, JFF’s Center for Racial Economic Equity partnered with the National Student Clearinghouse and five community colleges to research opportunities and barriers along the pathways to tech careers for Black learners and workers. Recently participated in the Devsprint Hackathon conducted by the nss Red-Cross wing at VVCE. Was an amazing 24hrs filled with intensive coding. lots of ups and downs faced during the competition but at the end was able to create a decent website for the required solution. A prototype website, BotHire was created to facilitate the hiring in both private and public sectors. We successfully made a user-friendly interface for all people with specific subscriptions to ensure better opportunities in hiring. A specific examination method was created by BotHire was created called BotEval that evaluates the graduates based on Aptitude skills. The main outcomes of this hackathon: 1. Better implementation of the logic used is needed. 2. Facility for rural people to enroll to ensure job-hiring. 3. transparency between the hiring forum and the mediating website was to be achieved. 4. Skillset specific examinations was to be added other than BotEval aptitude examination. It was a great experience this time, but hoping to improve in the next hackathon. 👍
