🍷 Exciting Trends in Wine for 2024: The Rise of Neo-Négociants! 🌟 In the dynamic world of wine, a fascinating trend is set to emerge in 2024: the rise of the neo-négociants. But what exactly does this mean? Well, a négociant typically refers to a wine producer who doesn't grow their own grapes but sources them from various skilled winemakers. However, the neo-négociant takes it a step further – mastering both the art of winemaking and the savvy of a merchant, offering a diverse selection of terroirs to choose from. As this trend gains momentum, you may start seeing the code "RM" (Récoltant Manipulant) more frequently on wine bottles. But what does this code signify? These seemingly small letters hold significant importance, indicating whether the wine is an anonymous commercial blend, a bottling from a winegrowers' cooperative, or a personal producer's creation. For wine enthusiasts, understanding this distinction adds depth to their appreciation, as it reflects the wine's origin and quality. Now, we're curious – do you always pay attention to the RM code when selecting wines? 🍇 Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below! #NeoNégociants #WineTrends2024 #RMCode #WineEnthusiasts #PalTank

Check out this article on Wine and Song about sparkling wines. #wine #wineandsongchicago William Gilmore
Check out my blog post on Bubbly Essentials! People always ask me about sparkling wines. Sparkling wines contain carbonation that occurs either naturally, as part of the wine making process, or is artificially introduced. Sparkling wines are usually light in color, but may also be rosé or even red. Champagne is a sparkling wine, but only wines made in the Champagne District in France are properly entitled to be called Champagne. Every other wine with bubbles is sparkling wine.

We are building a wine tribe to revolutionise the World of Wine. To do this our principles are: 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 - through an engaging voice/dialogue that we can all understand and relate to, and with a brand that connects to customers, rather than the wine industry. 𝐀 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 - search wines by what type of beer you like, what food you want to eat it with, what event it’s for. All delivered in an understandable, relatable way. 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 - wines that come from your back garden that tell a great story, taste amazing, and can be enjoyed by many. 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 - offering our wines in cans, in barrels, reusable wine bottles, producing wine cocktails - you name it. 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐨𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 - being socially aware to support our communities to grow together. #winelover#wine #bubbles #2024 #havingfun #lovingwine #principles

It is Tuesday again so let's talk wine! Serving temperatures are critical to getting the most out of your wines and are often mis-understood or not even considered. Often, I find that white wines are served too cold and reds too warm. One challenge we face is that everyone's "room Temperature" is different and everyone's fridge is set at a different temperature. The general rule is, the lighter the wine, the colder it should be served but in lieu of figuring out the exact perfect temperature to serve each wine varietal, my simple tip is to take your whites out of the fridge 30 minutes prior to serving and put most reds in the fridge 30 minutes before serving, except Cabernet and Bordeaux. All wines will change as the temperature changes so look out for more expression in the white wines as they warm and a suppression of some unwanted red wine characteristics as red wine is chilled. But this is all part of your journey of discovery with wine. Stay wine curious my friends.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔: 𝑨 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒌 𝒐𝒇 𝑬𝒙𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆🥇 In the world of wine, competitions and awards are more than just awards, they are a testament to a wine’s quality and craftsmanship. Wine competitions bring together some of the most esteemed judges, including sommeliers, winemakers, and critics from around the globe. During a competition, wines are presented in blind tastings, ensuring unbiased evaluations. Judges assess each wine’s characteristics, often over multiple rounds, to determine the winners. The process is rigorous, with only the most exceptional wines receiving top honors. Winning a medal or receiving a high score can significantly elevate a wine’s reputation and visibility. ⭐️ At French Wines Inc., we only offer wines that have won awards at major competitions. Pro Tip of the Day: Wine service temperature is critical to the enjoyment of your wine. Correct serving temperature for each wine style is as follows: • Sparkling Wine: 6⁰ - 10⁰ C • Light Bodied White Wine: 7º - 10º C • Full Bodied Red Wine: 16º - 18º C Always experiment - in a warm country like South Africa, cooler lighter bodied wines like Pinot Noir will do well with a slight chill too! Bonus Pro Tip: The term "room temperature" was coined to refer to European room temperature, not African. Wine reference to room temperature will always be cooler than our sunny shores. #wine #winelover #wineknowledge ##themoreyouknow

Why I Don't Believe Rating Wine Will Define the Future I understand this is comedic, but it humorously reflects the growing skepticism consumers have towards wine awards. Recently, I saw @Jimmyrees_ on Instagram make a poignant observation. When asked if he chooses wine based on awards, he humorously replied, "No, I wouldn’t trust an award. It’s like a real estate agent. Everyone’s got one of those.” His critique resonates deeply with the current sentiment towards the wine industry. In his video, Jimmy discusses the challenges consumers face in selecting wine from thousands of wineries. Often, purchased wines don't match personal taste preferences. He also critiques the vast price range—from $4 to $4,000—highlighting that higher cost doesn't always correlate with better quality. As he puts it, "In the wine community, you don't necessarily get what you pay for." Imagine buying a product in a complex market where prices vary drastically and higher cost doesn't necessarily assure better quality. Some wines of equal quality are sold at cheaper prices. Furthermore, the prevalence of awards has diluted their significance, making it challenging to distinguish truly exceptional wines. I've often struggled to answer customers asking why one wine scores 95 points while another also does. With so many wines receiving medals and high scores, what sets them apart? Many wineries seem focused on self-promotion rather than offering unique value to consumers. Watch Jimmy's insightful and humorous video, as it captures the evolving consumer perspective on the wine industry and explains why people are disengaging from it. #wine #winecommunication #winelife #wineworld #winebusiness
