For those who have already committed resources and personnel to the project, it is unclear what will happen next and how they will be affected. The ripple effect of this decision on the industry may be far greater than initially thought, and could set back progress in other projects that would have been co-dependent.

The NYS Department of Transportation awarded a $384.5 million contract for a portion of the I-81 viaduct project to CNY Alliance, a group of New York-based contractors. The partnership includes Rifenburg Construction, Inc.,Crane Hogan Structural Systems and a joint venture between A. SERVIDONE, INC./ B. ANTHONY CONSTRUCTION COP., JOINT VENTURE and B. Anthony Construction Corp. The contract’s scope of work includes the conversion of the southern interchange of I-481/I-81. The $2.25 billion I-81 viaduct project aims to reconnect downtown neighborhoods in the Syracuse area that were originally severed by the I-81 viaduct’s construction in the 1950s, said New York Gov. Kathy Hochul in a release. The route is critical to maintain a high speed interstate connection with national and international north-south trade routes from Tennessee to the Canadian border, Hochul said. "One of the biggest and most consequential projects in the country" 🚆 Work has begun on the Hudson River Tunnel portion of the $16.1B Gateway Program. The project will double the capacity for the Northeast Corridor Rail Segment connecting New Jersey and New York. The project came about from the rumored potential failure of the current rail tunnels - one of the "most pressing issues facing New York City right now". The project includes: - New tunnel under the Hudson River. - Rehabilitation of existing tunnel.  - New tracks and platforms at New York-Penn Station.  - New Portal North and South Bridges over the Hackensack River in New Jersey. - Construction of loop tracks in Secaucus. - Sawtooth Bridges replacement. #CapeCod update! The #Sagamore and #Bourne bridges bring traffic over the Cape Cod Canal, connecting the Cape to the rest of the region. The plan would begin with a replacement of the Sagamore Bridge, which is the one that has been deemed in more urgent need of updating. The latest funding will come from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Bridge Investment Program (BIP) and brings the total amount of federal dollars dedicated to the project to $1.72 billion. The state has pledged $700 million, meaning there is enough money secured to begin on the Sagamore Bridge. The new bridge is projected to be completed in 2034 and, hopefully, the Bourne Bridge project would finish up about 18 months later. Province invites proposals for new 264th Street Interchange Three shortlisted teams have been invited by the Province to participate in a request for proposals to design and build a new 264th Street Interchange, a key component of improvements to Highway 1 between 264th Street and Mt. Lehman Road. The teams invited to submit proposals to enter into a design-build agreement with the Province are, in alphabetical order: Aecon-Norland General Partnership: A general partnership between Aecon Constructors, a division of Aecon Construction Group Inc. and Norland Projects Limited; KEA Fraser Valley Connectors: A joint venture between Kiewit Infrastructure BC ULC and Emil Anderson Construction (EAC) Inc.; and Metro Vancouver (Infrastructure) Partnership: A joint venture between Jacob Bros. Construction Inc., BD Hall Constructors Corp., and EBC Inc. Following an evaluation of submissions, the Province will choose the project's design-build team. Construction will begin in late 2024. #Albany - The $634.8 million investment to replace the Livingston Avenue Railroad Bridge and the $10 million Restore NY Communities Initiative grant award Two allow for the demolition of the Central Warehouse, two incredible transformative projects for the City and Capital Region announced today. https://lnkd.in/ewP52XtA Central Warehouse Award: The $10 million award through the eighth round of the Restore New York Communities Initiative will be allocated to the County of Albany to facilitate the safe demolition of the building, allowing the property to be redeveloped. Restore NY is a program administered by Empire State Development, it's designed to help local governments revitalize their communities and encourage commercial investment, improve the local housing stock, put properties back on the tax rolls and increase the local tax base. The remainder of the round eight awards will be announced in the coming days. Livingston Railroad Bridge Replacement: A new seven-span, lift-type bridge meeting modern standards for height, width and speeds will be constructed just south of the existing bridge. It will also be wider and designed to carry heavier freight train loads, as well as two passenger trains at the same time. The structure will also be able to handle taller rail cars, allowing for more freight, and will more reliably accommodate marine traffic on the Hudson River. The project will also create a separated shared-use path that will provide a crossing over the Hudson River for pedestrians and cyclists, providing easy connections to the Albany Skyway, the Empire State Trail, the future Rensselaer Riverwalk - a portion of which is being constructed as part of this project – and other area attractions.
