How would you respond? Disclaimer: I do not judge ANY colleague who has sold their practice to a consolidator! I blame the consolidators. This is MY opinion about MY practice! I am the owner of an 8 doc (5.5 FTE) small animal general practice. I have owned it for 31 years and this May I will have worked here 34. I live in the same zip code as my practice. My predecessor and mentor lived in our town and owned the practice from 1953 until I purchased it in 1992. He purchased the records from the widow of a vet who graduated in 1918 and came to live and work in our town in 1936. I have not poured my heart and soul into this practice in the hopes of cashing in on some huge windfall although I have assumed it would fund a comfortable retirement. My kids are brilliant and will find their own way in life. I will gladly assist them financially if I am able but I don't see it as an obligation as I invested heavily in their foundation including just spending TIME with them, coaching their sport teams... I have workaholic tendencies because I LOVE what I do but I only worked 80 hour weeks early on so that I could start hiring other vets and ensure none of us would have to work more than 40 - EVER again. I am solicited on a daily basis by corporate vet med, M&A specialists and private equity investors. There was a time (3 decades ago) when I thought joining practices together to lower the cost of doing business by consolidating tasks that need to be done but don't need to be done at the practice level. I thought consolidating practices would allow us to manage and elevate the standard of care to keep everyone practicing at the highest level and do so while keep the cost of care fair and reasonable. Silly me! What has happened is that investors see a cash cow and treat vet med like a 7-11, ignore standard of care ("because we don't do medicine doc! We leave culture alone and medicine up to the doctors"), oppress the care givers in every possible way, forget about the fact that we are treating living beings and that the outcome of what we do is important and they do all of this in the name of profit first. I left out that after doing all of this for 3 decades and contributing significantly to the root cause of mental health issues in our profession, they throw a website url at their people packed full of "mental health resources" and stand in the spotlight claiming to care about their people! So....NO I will not sell to a consolidator. Even if you find me the PERFECT MATCH to my culture and legacy, I will not sell to a consolidator because other than MARS who sits at the top of the pyramid, the goal is to sell to the next bigger group. Back to the question I asked at the start. I recently modified my response from "not interested" which typically is interpreted as "Not interested today but feel free to ask my again tomorrow" to this: If you happen to come across my obituary, feel free to reach out to my kids! Do you think that's clear enough?

I’ve survived Regimen. And Regimen is surviving me. 4 years ago, when Wilko Kunert, Wolf-D. and I teamed up to build Regimen, we all could’ve not been more optimistic. Hims and Roman were raising bigger and bigger rounds for selling generic Viagra online, their European peers were launching, DTC & consumer subscription companies were on trend, and with early cohorts we were able to prove the effectiveness of non-pharmaceutical treatment for erectile dysfunction. The past years have shown how difficult and unpredictable (startup) life and digital health specifically is. We were able to built a beloved product for 70.000 members, have published research, collaborated with health insurances and pharmaceutical companies. We’ve built a product that has changed and is still changing the lives, health, and relationships of thousands of people around the world. Our team has made so much of a difference in the lives of so many people (and their partners) around the world by shipping code, design, supplements and penis pumps from our office to people struggling with their intimate health all around the world and I hope everyone involved is immensely proud of that. The truth is also: in an increasingly complicated consumer health and venture environment, we couldn’t make the economics work at scale to continue the venture path. CACs increased exponentially when accelerating ad spent – something many of us have been struggling with in the past 2-3 years. I am incredibly grateful that my friend and cofounder Wilko is taking on the task to offer Regimen to people around the globe, maintain, grow and improve Regimen for all of our members, and continue to work with our partners in the ecosystem. I will stay part of the journey as a board member and thus will continue to be part of Regimen, but will move on towards a new chapter in my professional life. Ultimately, I’d like to thank our investors and shareholders. I won’t ever forget what so many of you have done for me – personally and professionally – and for our mission.

(TSX-V:DHB), which posted strong quarterly results suggesting its turnaround may be on track. Hygrovest is Delivra’s largest shareholder with a 22% shareholding. Private equity investments in healthcare are not new and the veterinary medicine space is exploding. There have been some nasty exits, piles of added debt, and ongoing disagreement on the value of assets pre and post-investment. Could additional regulation in this area be prudent?

Hollywood? Upper East Side?…Nope….Bowling Green, Kentucky 8/11/24 As most of my followers know, I have been chronicling the emerging science behind GLP-1 drugs - commonly bunched into one name “Ozempic” - and their evolving impact on our society. The enclosed article is a bellwether for what is and will be happening at small and not so small towns near you. America has an obesity and overweight epidemic. Call it lifestyle decisions, disease or both, it is deeply entrenched in a country where fast food is king - and cheaper and more accessible than farm fresh foods. A country where treatment >>>> prevention (the former spurs Big Pharma economy and their influence on political decisions that impact public health….the latter? Not so much). A country where driving is a necessity and walking and biking are not revered or encouraged (particularly in non-big city milieus). The Immediate Future: MORE… 1. Prescriptions for GLP-1 2. Compounding pharmacies producing look-a-like drugs that are much cheaper 3. Demand for Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound 4. Very rare adverse events documented….and perhaps unexpected ones 5. Pressure on insurance companies and employers to cover these drugs ($1,000-1,200 per month) 6. More Big Pharma company spending on R&D to develop new and better drugs, including pill form (all current GLP-1s require a weekly shot) 7. Bankruptcies/closures of businesses forced to cover these drugs in their employee coverage options 8. More clinical studies documenting more long term follow up as well as the outcomes for other clinical conditions - Alzheimer’s, cancer, addictive behaviors (alcohol, drug abuse, gambling) 9. More Med-spas, lifestyle locales opening and offering these drugs - without the need for prescriptions or with non-MD prescriptions (NPs, PAs) 10. Discussion in government about the economic consequences of the GLP-1 economy and how to best deal with it (partic coverage and cost) 11. “Before” and “After” selfies LESS… 1. Business for fast food joints, restaurants, and any food related entities. The economic ramifications are too broad to enumerate. 2. Bariatric surgery and perhaps less weight regain after bariatric surgery 3. Difficulty accessing these drugs as competition explodes - new brands and increasing compounding 4. “Miracle diets” and products on Instagram and all SM HOPES… 1. Less obesity, overweight in the US 2. Less diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia which will inevitably and happily lead to less coronary, cerebrovascular and peripheral arterial diseases 3. #2 will lead to less hospitalizations and deaths 4. #3 will ultimately lead to less health costs and greater ability to spend money on other efforts - Medicare, Medicaid and Obamacare are 3 of the 4 most expensive government programs 5.
