I only read the first paragraph. My thoughts as someone who has invested years advocating and volunteering with the homelessness and unhoused community. The problem is within your structure. For having seating employees in places with power to make decisions with the funds. Who had no clue or experience creating a simple plan and projection to actually get involved with the actual issue. Never the less have CERO COMPASSION for people going through a hardship. Instead $24BILLION that were asigne to help homelessness. California Governor cannot be accountable for. The money is no where to be found. $24BILL CANNOT BE FOUND!!Please make it make sense. Please explain why all the money invested in actual properties. The properties purchase meaning The assets are located in afluentes locations. How’s that gonna work for homeless, how can they afford it Moreover, make sure you investigate all the corruption within all the Nonprofit at least here in Los Angeles. You will find hundreds of people whom have been mistreated and denied help from egocentric employees and seating member of the nonprofits. Nonprofits only make sure they get their fat checks whle doing nothing. I’m so disappointed and I can guarantee you I’m not the only one.

We have seen progress to reduce homelessness since 2010, but we still have a ways to go. As we embark on the annual Point in Time (PIT) count next week to help understand the state of homelessness across the U.S., it is a great reminder of the strong collaboration needed to reduce homelessness. The partnership between U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and state, city, and county governments with non profit, faith based, and communities continues to be very important to the mission in reducing homelessness. Love the fundmentals of the Housing First Model focuses on housing stability — and the research brief by #VA shows the overall effectiveness of the Housing First model in improving housing stability and potentially reducing expensive healthcare usage. Youth homelessness and domestic and family violence (DFV) are inextricably linked. 🏠Over 90% of young people accessing our Inner West Youth Homelessness Services (IWYHS) have experienced DFV 🙍At the national level, 34% of young people presenting alone to Specialist Homelessness Services last year had been exposed to DFV, but among all children and young people experiencing homelessness, this percentage is likely to be much higher ❗️Overall, DFV was the second most-common reason that young Australians were forced into homelessness – ranking only behind the housing crisis May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month across Australia – a critical time to highlight how children and young people aren't acknowledged in the current domestic violence support system. A significant service gap impacts 12–24-year-olds who are seeking DFV support, with little recognition as victim-survivors in their own right in the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2037. Still time to register to attend Queensland Youth Housing Coalition (QYHC) Platform 1225 Event description Having a safe place to call home is a fundamental human right. Homelessness and social exclusion is about poverty and disadvantage.  Holistic responses with regard to the wellbeing of all in our society and systems are needed. This is particularly so for children and young people who experience life and our systems through a specific developmental and experiential lens.  Platform 1225 is a Forum for all to come together across government and non-government sectors to address these vital issues. Prevention of homelessness and early intervention are key. The earlier we intervene when a child or young person experiences homelessness, the shorter their experience of homelessness is likely to be. This year Platform 1225 will include a Conference on 15th May, followed by a Workshop for Specialist Youth Homelessness Services on 16th May. https://lnkd.in/gDW2EkBD

The role of case management in homeless service provision is absolutely crucial. If we are to create seamless journeys for individuals that actually "feel" seamless then we need to co - produce. 🙏 A No Wrong Door Approach is fundamental to ensuring individuals are not re- traumatised as they are bounced across a fragmented system many times over. In April, the Supreme Court will hear the most important case about homelessness in 40 years. Johnson v Grants Pass is a landmark case concerning homelessness criminalization and the rights of people experiencing homelessness. This case will determine whether cities have the right to penalize people for things like sleeping outside with a pillow or blanket, even when there are no safe shelter options. Earlier this week, I appeared on KUSI to discuss San Diego homelessness solutions. To help the unhoused population, I think it is important to offer individualized treatment, so that we can "meet people where they are." I also think we should provide a full continuum of care to those whom are receiving treatment and support. The ongoing push to criminalize homelessness is a big problem. It’s demonstrably ineffective and it makes life materially more difficult for those we are trying to house. In Oklahoma, Representative Darrell Weaver co-authored HB 3686 which would criminalize homelessness in the state. Penalties include fines or jail. What is remarkable is the lengths to which proponents of criminalization will go to avoid tackling the fundamental driver of this crisis. Below is a quote from Rep. Weaver which uses the title of our book. He concedes that homelessness might be a housing problem…if the unhoused don’t have a place to live. A more effective and compassionate response would be to create more affordable housing options and provide supportive services when needed. Falling back on criminalization because we lack the will to provide a durable solution is, in my opinion, a collective failure.

Today is National Youth Homelessness Matters day & we call on all Australians to join us in making ‘unaccompanied’ children & young people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing homelessness, a priority for our Federal Government. Unaccompanied children & young people (15 to 25) make up nearly 1/3rd of our homeless population- in 22/23 that was 39,000 unaccompanied children & young people either sleeping rough, couch surfing or experiencing unsafe or insecure living conditions. And these numbers ONLY represent the children/ young people who accessed the Speacialist Homelessness Services system. This #YHMD we ask you to help us elevate these children & young people’s voice, validate their experiences & prioritise solutions designed specifically for them through the development of a standalone National Child & Youth Homelessness Plan.
