Nonprofit & Church Communications Strategist, Cultural Assessment and Culture Change Workshop Consultant
Can we all agree that gala and nonprofit auction methods are beyond tired? Seth Godin thinks so too. And he built something about it. Get yourself to goodbids.org and see for yourself. Here's what I like about this project: 😮 Super unique prizes (I mean, how else do you get your name as a character in John Grisham’s next novel?). 💸 Every bid is a committed donation. So the value to the nonprofit is exponential. ⏳ The auction extends past the original deadline if people place another bid within a certain timeframe. 🎟️ If you share the auction with a friend and they end up bidding, you get a free bid to use in any auction of your choice. The #Goodbids platform just launched this month, so they’re only working with select nonprofits at this time. But if you're in the fundraising world, this is a story to follow. If nothing else, this work should inspire us to more innovation in traditional fundraising systems. And maybe even to place a bid on a Zoom lesson with baker @Claire Saffitz to support buildOn (please use my referral link if you do! https://lnkd.in/gF_42VTc 😉). #nonprofit #innovation #fundraising #development #auctions

After overcoming controversy and undergoing a financial audit, the Only Watch auction, curated by Luc Pettavino, is set to resume on May 10th in Geneva. Following a certified audit process that began last fall, Pettavino announces the organization's exoneration and readiness to proceed with its biennial sale at Palexpo. Despite some brands withdrawing their lots, most participants, including Patek Philippe, remain committed to the cause. The audit, prompted by online speculation, aimed to ensure transparency in the Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies, which organizes the auction to fund research for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Moving forward, Only Watch plans to enhance transparency with yearly audited financial statements and increase communication about its activities and beneficiaries. Despite challenges, Pettavino remains resolute in the auction's mission to support vital research initiatives. How do you think organizations can maintain transparency and trust in the face of scrutiny? #robbreport #luxury #onlywatch #watchcollector #charity #nonprofit

Why Should Charity Auctioneers Should Connect with Guests Before the Auction Starts 🤔 In the world of charity auctions, the auctioneer plays a pivotal role in driving engagement and maximising the funds raised for a cause. One key strategy that can significantly enhance the success of a charity auction is for the auctioneer to get to know the guests before the auction begins. Building Relationships Taking the time to connect with guests fosters a sense of community and inclusivity. When guests feel valued and recognized, they are more likely to participate actively and bid enthusiastically. This personal connection transforms the event from a simple transaction into a shared experience, where everyone feels they are contributing to a common goal. Understanding Interests By mingling with guests beforehand, auctioneers can gain insights into their interests and preferences. This knowledge allows the auctioneer to tailor their pitch and highlight items that resonate most with the audience. For instance, knowing that a guest is passionate about art can lead the auctioneer to emphasize art pieces during the auction, increasing the likelihood of higher bids. Building Trust Perhaps the most critical aspect of engaging with guests before the auction is the opportunity to build trust. Guests are more likely to bid generously when they trust the auctioneer. Establishing rapport and demonstrating a genuine commitment to the charity's mission can inspire confidence and encourage guests to invest in the cause. In summary, taking the time to connect with guests before a charity auction is not just a nice-to-have—it's a strategic move that can significantly impact the event's success. By building relationships, understanding interests, and fostering trust, auctioneers can create an environment where generosity thrives, ultimately benefiting the charity and the community it serves. 9/11 💔 It's a date that still hits hard, no matter how many years pass. The images, the stories… they stay with us. Today, on #PatriotDay, it's not just about remembering the loss; it's about honoring the strength we found that day. That spirit of community, of resilience, that's what we need to carry forward. And #fundraising? It's a way to do something with that spirit. It's not just about the money. It's about coming together and showing support for those who serve and for the causes that make our country stronger. A silent auction is one way to do that. It's fun, gets people involved, and can raise serious funds. Think items that acknowledge our heroes, experiences that celebrate community... that's what makes it unique. Silent Auction Pro can help make it happen, taking the stress out of the logistics so you can focus on the meaning. This Patriot Day, let's turn remembrance into action. See how Silent Auction Pro can help you do so: #neverforget
