IEEE Women in Engineering Princeton Chapter is pleased to sponsor the NJIT’s annual Women Designing the Future Conference (WDF). The WDF Conference focuses this year on the theme “Intelligent Uses of Artificial Intelligence: making technology work for all of us.” Building on last year’s conference, we aim to drill below the surface of the current hype about AI and explore both nuanced socio-political concerns and emerging opportunities for human-AI collaboration. We are especially interested in exploring how generative AI may exacerbate existing systemic inequities—and what we can do to leverage the power of AI for social good.

As we celebrate International Women‘s Day, we honor remarkable individuals like Fei-Fei Li, a trailblazing Chinese-American computer scientist. Renowned as one of the most influential women in AI, Li‘s contributions transcend boundaries. Currently serving as the Co-Director of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) and a Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University, Li‘s impact resonates globally. Her groundbreaking work in computer vision and image recognition has revolutionized the field, with the creation of ImageNet marking a significant milestone. ImageNet stands as a beacon of innovation, serving as a standard benchmark for image recognition algorithms. Through Li‘s vision and dedication, this large-scale visual recognition database has propelled advancements in computer vision, shaping the future of AI. The second AI FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRIES FORUM just took place at the United Nations Office in Vienna, and our very own Lisette Espín-Noboa was on the panel discussing #AI for Inclusive and Sustainable Development.
