Grand Prix motorcycle racing is the highest class of motorcycle road racing events held on road circuits sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). Independent motorcycle racing events have been held since the start of the twentieth century. 1]and large national events were often given the title Grand Prix. 2]The foundation of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme as the international governing body for motorcycle sport in 1949 provided the opportunity to coordinate rules and regulations in order that selected events could count towards official World Championships. It is the oldest established motorsport worldGrand Prix motorcycles are purpose-built racing machines that are unavailable for purchase by the general public and unable to be ridden legally on public roads. This contrasts with the various production-based categories of racing, such as the Superbike World Championship and the Isle of Man TT Races that feature modified versions of road-going motorcycles available to the public. The current top division is known as MotoGP since 2002 when the four-stroke era began. Prior to that, the largest class was 500cc, both of which form a historical continuum as the official World Championship, although all classes have official status. The championship is currently divided into four classes: the eponymous MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE. The first three classes use four-stroke engines, while the MotoE class uses electric motorcycles. The most successful rider in Grand Prix history is Giacomo Agostini with 15 titles and 122 race wins. In the top-flight series, Agostini holds the title record with eight, followed by Valentino Rossi with seven and active rider Marc Márquez with six. As of 2023, Rossi holds the record for most top-flight race wins with 89. #motogp #motogpriders #AD04 #JZ53 #HB88 #DP95 #KA17 #VR46 #AB19 #SL22 #MV25 #Al29 #DP26 #CC35 #BS38 #AE41 #AR42 #PE44 #SR45 #TR53 #LB76 #MM93 #JL99 #JF94

Lot 84 1980 BMW M1 Procar Artcurial BMW Group Estimation 1,000,000 - 1,200,000 € Racing car Chassis No 4301302 - Excellent quality restoration, beautiful Procar preparation in period - Important previous IMSA racing track record - Always finished in the top 10 at the Tour Auto - Ideal for Le Mans Classic and the Tour Auto - Reliable, powerful and rare 1980 BMW M1 Procar As a model launched in 1978 which could not compete in the World Sports Car Championship due to a change in regulations, Jochen Neerpasch (Director of the BMW Motorsport department) developed the Procar Championship in order for BMW M1 to race. There were two editions in 1979 and 1980, in races which took place as openers to Formula 1 Grand Prix racing events: single-seater drivers were allocated a drive in the M1 according to their time in practice, resulting in spectacular racing clashes.. BMW turned the page in 1981 to concentrate on its Formula 1 engines, but the M1 Procar machines continued their career in the United States in the IMSA championship. That's how this particular car was born: a road model originally sold new in Italy and delivered in orange, this M1 was modified in 1982 to Procar specifications by Walker Brown Racing Team and competed in the American championship between 1983 and 1986, in the GTO category. After four races in 1983, the car took part in its most intense season in 1984 with 13 events including the 12 Hours of Sebring. It also competed in four more races in 1985, then in 1986 at the 24 Hours of Daytona in the hands of another team, Dallas Motorsport. It had a livery in white, then black and red consecutively but always had the number 43 on its doors. It has road settings which can be easily modified for the track and the car is today in very good condition thanks to its restoration which has hardly aged. Currently awaiting the renewal of its PTH, it will be fully serviced before the sale and will be delivered with a set of four additional wheels. In addition to its road qualities and 3.5-litre 6-cylinder mid-engine, the BMW M1 is a rare car, with only 450 examples produced. Ideal for the Tour Auto, Le Mans Classic and Peter Auto's CER races, this particular M1 has an amazing Group 4 preparation and is just waiting to continue its career in historic racing, of which it will undoubtedly continue to be at the front. #classic #classics #classiccars #collectorcars #carcollectors #historic #vintage #performance #racing #rallying #driving #car #cars #automotiveindustry #auto #autos #autoindustry #auction #forsale #sold #automotive #investment #privatesale

IMSA GTP Race Car Homologations Extended Through 2029 LE MANS, France – As part of the annual press conference on the eve of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, officials from the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) and the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) today confirmed that the homologations for the Le Mans Daytona h (LMDh) and Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) prototype race cars have been extended through the end of the 2029 racing season. Through a convergence agreement announced in 2021 between IMSA, the ACO and the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), LMDh and LMH cars are eligible to race in both the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class and the FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar class. “Endurance sports car racing on a global scale has never been stronger,” said IMSA President John Doonan. “Much of the success the WeatherTech Championship is currently experiencing has been driven by the shared platform we developed alongside our ACO and FIA colleagues for global prototype racing, and I’m confident the same can be said for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the FIA WEC. In addition to extending homologations for the top prototype category, it also was revealed in the press conference that the current generation of Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) race cars – which debuted in 2017 – will continue through the end of the 2027 WeatherTech Championship season. It’s clear that the partnership formed between Infront Moto Racing and KTM AG in 2021 to create the Junior e-Motocross Series has been really successful. We are now entering the fourth year of this series and the positive feedback we have received from the riders and their families throughout the last three years makes all of the hard work behind the scenes worthwhile. For every young rider out there, and their family, the experience of competing at MXGP races is something really special. For the manufacturers, KTM, Husqvarna Motorcycles, and GASGAS, they can gain valuable information on their bikes as they are being raced on the toughest tracks in the world in a competitive environment. Of course, e-powered motorsport is constantly evolving and for Infront Moto Racing, it’s really important to have this series running alongside the FIM Motocross World Championship. 𝐈𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐲: 𝐀 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐜𝐞 Add-on post to my recent article about similarities of racing motorsport and #packaging. Ice Speedway stands as one of the most electrifying and visually striking motorsports in the world. This sport combines the high-speed thrills of motorcycle racing with the slippery challenge of ice, offering a unique spectacle for enthusiasts and newcomers alike. At its core, Ice Speedway involves modified motorcycles equipped with studded tires racing on oval tracks made entirely of ice. These modifications allow the bikes to achieve incredible speeds and navigate the icy surface with precision, despite the slippery conditions. Races are typically short, intense, and filled with adrenaline-pumping moments as riders skillfully slide their bikes around corners, often just inches apart from their competitors. The sport demands not only exceptional riding skills but also a deep understanding of the physics of movement on ice, making it as much a battle of wits as it is of speed. #PackYourEmotions
