People seem to be confused what a Digital Product Designer is and does: A Product Designer has strong UX and UI skills but the important definition is that they are strategic in the market and balance business and user needs. A Product Design job demands far more skills than just UI design (and these skills take time). Think more **Product Entrepreneur** - and often being across multiple products at the same time. I explain the roles UX, UI, Product Designer and the differences in some detail here - https://lnkd.in/eTAmX6K7 A good example of this is my work as Lead Designer @ terralistens - I work on the native app, the e-commerce website (with blog and SEO) and the web app whilst helping to make platform decisions and manage dev tasks. Product Design is a crucial role which is supported by Marketing, Sales & Upper Management (Pitch decks, funding), Development, and in some cases Manufacturing of physical products too. Genuine question and probably aimed at recruiters at the moment. Does "Product Designer" actually mean UI Designer? I mean the job title asks for so many things what are what a : • UX Researcher • UX Designer does But the actual output or most of the focus seems to be on UI. Is this the case? Am I being fair? Is it also just worth applying anyway because a Product Designer role is often a "dream" or "wish-list," and actually what is needed is more someone focussed on the UX side of things? #ProductDesign, #UIDesign, #UXDesign, #UserExperience, #UXResearch, #DesignRoles, #JobTitles, #DesignCommunity, #CareerInsights, #Recruitment, #DesignJobs, #DesignThinking, #ProductDevelopment, #CareerQuestions, #DesignDebate, #JobSearch, #TechIndustry, #DesignCareer, #DesignersDiscussion, #UXvsUI

Hiring a UX person? Let's talk about clarity and transparency in job postings. Why present a day rate by the hour? Im guessing it’s to mask a low rate or lack of competitiveness? Keeping it clear and straightforward benefits everyone involved. Don’t make me think, as the saying goes 😉. #ux #uxcontracting #userresearch

A company's hiring of UXers doesn't matter.... if they don't know how to hire UXers and don't understand the discipline. For this reason, it is important to temper expectations and remain steadfast, focused, and sober during the job search process. #ux #realuxtalk

In a recent interview, hiring managers showed me my designs and asked if I was proud of them. I admitted I love the UI but felt the UX was off. Surprisingly, didn't get the job because they felt I lacked passion for my work. It's a reminder that emphasizing both UI and UX is crucial for customer-centered solutions. Even though they may not see the need for UX, I believe in the value of a comprehensive design approach. Let's keep pushing for user-centric solutions in product design, as creating products for users is at the core, and gaining revenue is a natural outcome. ❤️ P.S Should we reconsider the practice of asking for portfolios in senior positions? #UIUX #DesignPassion #balance

When it comes to entry-level roles, please consider potential > experience. The design as an industry is at a crossroads, grappling with major big problems. At the top of these issues is the common design education system heavy on theory, fluff and light on practical skills. This has led the employers into a loop, constantly seeking experience to guarantee their new hires can handle the real-world demands of their roles. Employers, it’s time to rethink our hiring criteria. Let’s prioritize potential over experience and see the remarkable difference it makes. I can speak about this for ages 🤣
Friendly reminder for designers Juniors can’t gain experience without being given experience. We need to remove the 3+ years experience requirement from early career roles. Our industry should be more inclusive and growth-focused. Agree? #ux #ui #career #design #productdesign
