A fruitful cultural collaboration The Métiers d'Art - Tribute to Traditional Symbols series offers a journey into the history and culture of China's last two Imperial dynasties, from the 14th to the early 20th centuries. To immerse itself in the distinctive decor of this period, the Maison took a particular interest in the decorative arts and notably in the “Seawater Cliff” motif omnipresent on courtly architectural elements, but also on furniture and porcelain, as well as on imperial clothing and particularly the so-called ‘dragon’ robes. For this research work, Vacheron Constantin benefited from the advice of Mr. Song, the Former Associate Research Librarian of The Palace Museum, housed in Beijing's Forbidden City. In agreement with this expert in Chinese history and symbolism, studies on the dials of the four Métiers d’Art limited editions focused on the "Seawater Cliff" motif. Extensively documented by Mr. Song, this depiction features a mountain towering above the tides with their ebb and flow lashing its cliffs. 🎬 Watch the full length discussion on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/eyWT9RPp #VacheronConstantin #OneOfNotMany

The two facades of Madrid and London are the great spectacle of this project. The challenge of the windows has been to level the approx. 100 rockers as each bag and position is different. More than 100 vintage ladders have been purchased all over Europe. #AciertaRetail #LOEWE

Islamic Art | Metropolitan Museum of Art Brasero late 15th–early 16th century Muslim potters working in the lusterware industry emigrated to the region of Valencia in the early 14th century, and these craftsmen established and dominated the Manises ceramic industry for the next hundred years. Lusterware was the most significant luxury ceramic for both local consumption and international export. The prestige of these wares is evidenced by the decorative heraldic blazons belonging to a number of noble, ecclesiastical, and royal patrons. This dish is ornamented with an eagle blazon of an unidentified patron. In the late 15th century a shift in the taste led to the production of this type of dish, called "gadrooned ware." Characterized by the raised and tapered gadroon decoration around the outer rim and inner raised boss, this design was borrowed from contemporary metalwork, which often comprised raised decorative elements. Title: Brasero Date: late 15th–early 16th century Geography: Attributed to Spain, Manises (Valencia) Medium: Earthenware; molded, luster-painted on opaque white glaze Dimensions: H. 2 1/16 in. (5.2 cm) Diam. 19 5/16 in. (49.1 cm) Classification: Ceramics Credit Line: Gift of Dr. and Mrs. Lewis Balamuth, 1968 Accession Number: 68.215.2
