🌟 With Halifax serving as the final stop of the 2024 Public Sector Network Canada Roadshow, the spotlight on the province’s steadfast investment in their people, systems, and programs to support patient access to care initiatives resonated strongly.    Members of the Petal Health team were delighted to engage in discussion regarding the province’s vision and share their expertise and experience on addressing some of healthcare’s greatest challenges.    🔐 Key highlights included: ➡ Elliot Desilets, Director of Business Development, sharing Petal’s implementation of a provincial initiative aimed at optimizing access to care to all citizens. This real-world case demonstrated the streamlining of the patient journey and improving of the alignment between healthcare supply and patient demand in real-time.    ➡ Maude-Andrée D'Amours, Jef Desourdy and Dan Lynch leading an interactive roundtable with stakeholders from across Atlantic Canada. In 2015, at age 22, I began my career as a health tech entrepreneur by living in 3 nursing homes for a year, developing a product to enhance residents’ quality of life. Today, I am dedicated to ensuring individuals prevent chronic disease and prolong their healthspans for as long as possible. Here’s why my co-founders Mike Goss, CFA, Saif Uddin Mahmud and I are building NiaHealth, a digital-first proactive healthcare platform built in Canada. Named after Sardinia, a renowned Blue Zone synonymous with longevity—a subject I had previously studied—our platform is dedicated to empowering individuals through accessible, proactive health management. At NiaHealth, we offer convenient home or office blood draws, analysis of up to 50+ healthspan-related biomarkers, and personalized health reports with actionable insights. What sets us apart is our commitment to a seamless user experience, oversight by health experts, and tailored concierge services. In addition, we provide other diagnostics such as VO2 max tests and DEXA scans, ensuring comprehensive insights into health and fitness levels. Modernizing our primary care system can increase access to care and improve health outcomes. However, while our health systems are facing pressure to innovate and find more cost-effective solutions, Canadian innovators face significant barriers to health system integration for their proven solutions. Health Cities' initiatives in primary care are addressing these challenges. Last week, Roche Canada had an opportunity to meet with Päivi Sillanaukee, Special Envoy for the Minister of Health in Finland and with Abhinav Kalra, Executive Vice President of Connected Care at Canada Health Infoway to learn, share and discuss the importance of integrated health data access & exchange to enable personalized healthcare and improved health outcomes globally. We learned that the Finnish government has a Health Sector Growth Strategy that is enabled by a national data-based innovation ecosystem that is supported across the Ministries of Social Affairs and Health, Economic Affairs and Employment, and Education and Culture, Business Finland and the Academy of Finland. There is inter-sectoral political commitment for Finland to be an international hub for high-quality scientific research and innovation, a global partner in public-private collaborations, an attractive country for health sector investment and a model country for sustainable and personalized healthcare. In Canada, through the work led by Canada Health Infoway, supported by Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) and in collaboration with our Federal-Provincial-Territorial and industry stakeholders, we have started our journey to set health data standards for digital health to advance our data-enabled connected care journey for our different health systems to a common and connected approach to enable better healthcare decisions and outcomes by 2030. A great first step is that 90% of Canadians want access to their own health data electronically so they can make better informed decisions on their health. The opportunity is that we currently only use one-tenth of the data we collect for decisions on healthcare, and only one-third of Canadians have access to their own health data. There’s an opportunity for us to learn from Finland’s journey to enable Canada to also become an attractive country for health sector investment in innovation to benefit the health of Canadians and the economy. "Greenstar is honoured to attend the International Conference on Sustainable Health Systems & Resilience: Challenges and opportunities - Transforming Health Systems through Partnerships, Organized by Manhattan Strategy Group, USA. In his opening remarks, Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Bharath, Coordinator for Health to the Prime Minister, emphasized the critical need for a coordinated approach among all stakeholders to improve the healthcare system. He highlighted that the theme of the conference aligns with this collective effort. A particularly thought-provoking panel discussion on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) was moderated by Dr Syed Aziz Rab, CEO of Greenstar Social Marketing Pakistan. The panel included distinguished experts such as Dr.Shahzad Ali Khan , Vice Chancellor of the Health Services Academy ; Dr.Talib Lashari , Focal Person for FP2030 and Technical Advisor, Head of the CIP Cell at the Population Welfare Department, Government of Sindh; and Dr.Syed Shah Miran, CEO of MERF - Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation.   The conversation highlighted role of PPP in strengthening the healthcare system. Dr. Aziz gave background for the need of PPP. He said an estimated 70% population pays for the health through out-of-pocket expenses and seek services from the private sector. Government sector has various constraints and cannot fulfil health needs of the whole country. Private sector works as an extended arm of the government providing support where needed. Government can take advantage of the health eco system of the private sector comprising of GPs, mid-level providers, traditional healers, chemists and retailers. Dr. Shahzad emphasized role of the private sector contributing 70% to the system and how academia, public and private sector can come together to formulate evidence based policies for PPP initiatives. Dr. Talib shared that 54% of Family Planning services are provided by the private sector (PDHS), supporting the government and mentioned success of PPP models in Sindh. Dr. Shah Miran shared valuable insights on the cost-effectiveness of PPP initiatives, need for improvement of the model for better productivity, particularly in hard to reach and rural areas.   Greenstar looks forward to exploring these partnerships to bring resilient and comprehensive healthcare solutions. #healthcare #publicprivatepartnerships #PPP #GreenstarSocialMarketing #Pakistan #collaboration #FP2030 #resilienthealthcare #MinistryOfNationalHealthServices #ManhattanStrategyGroup
