Mark your calendars for the highly anticipated virtual global summit on May 1st where key industry leaders across the globe will share in an open panel discussion the proposed recommendations to address the economic and operational gaps limiting the advancement of precision medicine. In 2023, a multi-stakeholder Forum was established to urgently address the specific economic gaps limiting the advancement of precision testing as identified in Diaceutics’ widely cited Clinical Practice Gaps paper published JCO in 2022. Sarah Hersey, Vice President and Head of Precision Medicine at Bristol-Myers Squibb and Forum member expressed: "This forum will serve as a healthy discourse to address the root complexities surrounding precision medicine and economic barriers. Together, the precision medicine community can identify possible solutions to close the clinical care gaps and help increase access to effective treatments for patients in need." Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to a white paper of recommendations for industry and policy makers, playing a critical role in shaping the future of precision medicine. Happy to be participating in this important panel discussion on the value of innovative medicines. In this session, I will focus on: 💎 The 3 layers of value: value for patients, value for healthcare systems and value for society. Also see our earlier report on Demonstrating the power of innovation in Europe: https://lnkd.in/eE6rcBn9 🔎 The need to broaden the perspective on spending on innovative medicines over time and across budget silos to acknowledge that spending on medicines is an investment and not a cost. Traditional Medicine Data - joining the digital health revolution Next week Heather will be the keynote speaker at the International Conference for Global Cooperation in Traditional Medicine. Interoperability is a key focus for digital health around the world, and the movement towards more standardised information models, such as openEHR and terminologies standards (SNOMED-CT) and information exchange standards (HL7) in conjunction with best practice procedures documented by ISO is an opportunity for those who practice traditional medicine to have their data join the digital health revolution. Imagine our existing digital health infrastructure extended to include traditional medicines. The benefits include safer practice - as it would be easier to identify potential contraindications for care, research into effectiveness could be undertaken in a more wholistic way. Heather will present the opportunities to help the traditional medicine global community to cooperate more effectively to be included, particularly through engagement with existing standards and processes. This conference is being held from September 19 - 21 at the World Traditional Medicine and Anti-aging EXPO in Sancheong, Donguibogam Village, South Korea - hoping to see some of you there,
