🎉 Today, my husband Emanur Rahman and I are celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary 🎉. Together, we’ve navigated: 🏡🏡 house moves 👧🏽🧒🏽 amazing kids, and 🗄🗄🗄🗄🗄🗄🗄 businesses What's our secret? Well, we’ve always made it a priority to pause for breath, take stock and regularly re-evaluate our goals in life....That might sound a bit over the top, but we actually do this! We have to keep up with how we're evolving as individuals and as partners as we move through life and all that it brings. Open communication, of course, has been key, ensuring that we can always ask for what we need at each stage of our journey. In many ways, relationships are just like businesses, don’t you think? They need constant reassessment. Without regular check-ins and open dialogue, things can become stagnant, barriers can form and ultimately they can break down. Emanur definitely has his work cut out, as I am always reinventing myself or my businesses. Fun fact: I was once dubbed the ‘Madonna of Accountancy’ 👩🏻🎤 - constantly evolving, and with Boodl, I'm clearly still at it! As long as we keep the doors to communication open and, as Madonna says, ‘Express Yourself’ 😜, then everything will be just fine. Yesterday we celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary.🎊 Now I bet you can all guess how it was spent ⚽️😅 Tbh I wouldn’t have it any other way Maybe because we spend over 80% of our time together , as we work together ! 😳 I know, most people’s reaction when I say that is 🤯 I could never do that But for us it works 🌎 And I couldn’t imagine navigating this world of running a business without him. 🫶🏼 Here are some reasons why it’s works ? & really why it’s no different to having a business partner … 👨👩👧👦 We BOTH have had the pleasure and continue to see our children grow . This is the over riding factor for us the flexibility that it allows and that particularly during their youngest years we’ve pretty much been based out of the office in our family home 🏡 🖥️ We have have VERY different roles within the business . Ben is more back office and I’m client facing. It’s suits our personalities but neither of us could excel at our role without having the other person doing theirs . 🗣️ Being a business owner can be lonely at the best of times. Having someone that not only understands the business but the unique field we work in really helps when I need to offload. Although some of our conversations over the dinner table can get boring 😂 Finally the one thing that underpins it all is … ⏳Ben has so much patience 🤣 6 years married , 4 years as business partners , 2 children. It's our 5th wedding anniversary today! 🥳 From the first day Mihir Gireeshan and I met, it was clear that we shared something extraordinary. We've laughed together, cried together, picked each other up during our worst, and run a business together. Navigating our business as two strong-willed Aquarians has been a humbling learning experience. Here's what we learnt: 1. Open communication is key. We don't always see eye-to-eye, but that's actually a good thing! Our different viewpoints spark creative solutions that we might have missed otherwise. 2. We have different strengths. We recognized this early on and assign tasks accordingly. By doing so, we delegate and create a work environment where we both thrive and do what we love. 3. Disagreements? Sure, we have them (every couple does!). But at the end of the day, we both want the same thing: for our business to succeed.
