Off on my 2nd incredible Colorado ski trip ❄️🚌 and absolutely loving Steamboat Springs and bound for Winter Park tomorrow! I don’t love the fact that Ikon buys everyone out and has changed ski culture so much but man…it’s hard not to love the Ikon Pass🙈 Traveling full time in the winter is much more difficult than summer but also incredibly rewarding. So far I’ve skied and boarded… 🗻Mt Bachelor ☀️Sun Valley 🏔️Aspen-Snowmass 🗻Copper Mtn & A-Basin ❄️Snowbird 🗻Deer Valley 🏔️Solitude & Brighton ⚜️Snowbasin ❄️Steamboat Springs I also… - Am sometimes forced to travel on sketchy days when the roads are icy and unplowed (I even totaled my brand new trailer last month 😢) - Camp in a freezing RV (even though there’s heaters, it just doesn’t keep up) - Don’t have a good workspace (again, often freezing) - Have to deal with backing into RV sites with large snow banks (surprisingly common issue) In between all the skiing, we love getting to travel to work with corporate teams on boosting leadership, improving communication, and reducing stress across cities like Salt Lake, Denver, and Las Vegas. 🌟 **Exciting News!** 🌟 After an intense 8-month job search filled with challenges, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve started a new role as a Resource Planner/Administrator at Compleo Health Ltd. 🎉 This journey has been anything but easy. After spending 9 years with my previous employer, adjusting to the job market was a huge challenge. The search was long and often discouraging, with many rejections and near misses. 😓 One of the biggest hurdles was realising I couldn't continue my career in aviation operations in Manchester due to counter-terrorism laws requiring 3 years of local living history at the airport. 🛫 This forced me to explore other career paths. 🔍 I even considered going back to cabin crew and commuting to London. The long-haul contracts there, with only four or so sectors a month, seemed ideal. However, the sheer number of applicants and battling AI screenings was an eye-opener—and hard to accept. 🤖✈️ 💼 Interviews have never been my strength, and I’ve learnt so much about myself through this process. Navigating these challenges with ADHD was difficult but eye-opening. 🌱 The current job market is incredibly tough, and I’ve realised I still favour in-person interviews over online ones. It’s hard to gauge the room and make a genuine connection through a screen. 💻 I’ve also learnt the importance of bringing notes with previous work experience examples into interviews. 📒 Initially, I didn’t do this, but as I progressed, I found it helpful to ensure I provided detailed, relevant answers. However, it was a balancing act—sometimes needing more detail, other times less. It became a learning process to decide when to take feedback on board and when to trust my instincts. One of the hardest moments was being told I was "overqualified" for a role I really wanted. It’s something I still don’t fully understand, especially because I could see myself there long-term. 🤷♂️ 🎢 To add to the rollercoaster, I thought I had secured a job offer earlier in my search, only to have it withdrawn. That was a tough setback, but it taught me resilience and the importance of persistence. 💪 A special thank you to a small group of people who went above and beyond to help me on this journey. 🙏 One recruiter and one HR professional at a major company provided invaluable support. I couldn’t have done this without you. Now, I’m one week into my new role at Compleo Health, and I’m loving the vibe and the people I work with. The interest in summer mountaineering is bigger than expected! Like most Swedes, I've associated the Alps with skiing - referring to them as "ski resorts". Turns out the summer market is bigger than winter in many places. Hiking, climbing and mountaineering have become very popular, with Covid, documentaries and social media giving an extra push. The problem? Finding available guides and booking last-minute trips becomes way harder. If you were to reach out to a guide you know, chances are small they're available. To solve this, we're mapping out vacant days from a large number of guides, making it easier to find availability and book your adventure. Follow the Rules and Signs: Pay attention to signs and markers on the slopes indicating difficulty levels, boundaries, and any hazards. Adhering to these guidelines can prevent accidents and ensure everyone's safety. 6. Learn the Code: Familiarize yourself with the "Skier's Responsibility Code," which outlines etiquette and safety guidelines on the slopes. The JH Nordic Alliance is a community that engages in winter trails exploration at 'lower elevations'. However, we are also part of the larger community of winter outdoor enthusiasts, which includes backcountry alpine skiers. Although we engage in different activities, we all recreate on snowy public land. Considering the current snow pack, weather conditions this season, and the recent avalanche tragedy, we believe it is important to contribute to the conversation. Our hope is that by doing so, we can increase awareness and reach a wider audience. If you plan to go backcountry skiing this season, it is crucial to stay updated on the latest avalanche conditions. At current, the avalanche danger in the Tetons is Considerable but according to Bridger Teton Avalanche Center, "**A winter storm warning is in effect until 5pm tomorrow. Avalanche danger will increase significantly as heavy snow and wind arrive this afternoon.” ** Follow @btacavy for the most recent updates. Given the current snowpack, entering the backcountry should not be taken lightly. In this scenario, the best option is to remain calm and not let the excitement of powder fever overwhelm you, preventing you from making a well-informed decision.
