If I were looking for a job, I know the #1 'green flag' I'd look for. A 'No Dickheads' rule. A 'No Dickheads' rule tells you, at this company we care about how people treat each other. We care about it as much as we care about technical excellence. That's why years ago, Rebecca Hamilton and I sat outside on a patch of grass and decided 'No Dickheads' would be one of Koru Kids' very first rules. 8 years on, it's still a fave. To my knowledge, we've never had a dickhead in the team, but I always ask people to tell me immediately if they suspect one has snuck in. (No one ever has.) Our 'No Dickheads' rule helps make Koru Kids an amazing place to work in any role. It's one of the reasons our customer success team is so incredibly stable, high-performing and beloved. Sad news. The first 55 rejections have been sent for the role of "Head of operations". These were all on CV-scanning only. We're rejecting more tomorrow, and we're sorry that it took so long to assess - this is a more difficult task than we already anticipated! But let's share one insight, so you can better prepare for other applications. One thing we selected on, is the duration of the last job. When less than 1.5 years, we rejected. There were some exceptions, like somebody who stayed longer on the previous job than the current one. There were multiple reasons to filter on this. An obvious reason is that we wanted to hire somebody who would stay with us much longer than 2 years. Another one is that the really difficult problems arise after 1.5 to 2 years. So if somebody had 5 jobs of less than 2 years, and also the last one did not work, then we were not convinced that this person had solved those complex problems. We found that there was quite a group who hopped every 1-2 years for the first 4 jobs, and then stuck with one job for much longer - these all got through. Of course, we could very much be totally wrong, but that's the risk of CV-based selection. We could also have chosen to talk 30-60 minutes to all 135 applicants, which we obviously could not do. So what should you do to get through this specific filter at other companies for the same role? 1) make sure that you don't split up experience under one company too much, as this was difficult to read and maybe mistakes were made here. 2) read on the hard problems of management, and learn to love these problems. 3) stick with one company for 4 to 5 years. :) 4) don't hop too much. Or you could focus on "interim manager" and "company fixer", where such shorter times make total sense.
We got 90 applicants for the job "head of operations". We're going to respond the coming week.

I have a director position posted for the department in my division responsible for designing and delivering cutting edge data products to ensure that the Texas Workforce Commission and its partners & stakeholders have the data they need to make informed and ultimately evidenced-based decisions. This is an opportunity to not only help people in Texas but to help people nationally (and even internationally) as much of what we do qualifies as best practices that we share with other states to help them use data to improve prosperity for employers, individuals, families, and communities. I posted this position once before but foolishly did so right before going on a jag of trips and events that prevented me from giving prompt attention to the applicants. Worst Experience with Urban Company. Urban Company I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service provided by Urban Company regarding my recent AC repair request. Despite multiple technician visits and assurances of resolution, the issue with my AC remains unresolved and even worst, leaving me in discomfort during this hot weather. The incompetence and negligence displayed by your technicians are beyond unacceptable. The first technician failed to identify the issue and provided misleading information about the condition of the AC even after asking to check the gas leakage after service he told that there is no gas leakage. Subsequently, the second technician not only failed to repair the AC but also caused further damage, rendering it irreparable and burnt it instead of resolving the issue. However the third technician was ready to check the possibility to repair it but sadly he was forced to leave the AC in the same condition, by help desk team by saying that the senior technician will visit to resolve the issue. Moreover, the lack of coordination and communication within your organization is appalling. Despite being informed of the urgent need for resolution, your help-desk team has been dismissive and uncooperative, leaving me stranded without a functioning AC. I demand immediate action to rectify this situation. I expect either a prompt resolution to repair the AC and refill the gas, or a replacement of the AC on a priority basis. I will not tolerate any further delays or excuses. I urge you to prioritize my case and provide a satisfactory resolution without any further inconvenience. Failure to do so will compel me to escalate this matter through all available channels, including consumer rights organizations and social media platforms. I await your prompt response and action on this matter. But what we have 100% control over, is the level of support we provide. That’s where we are unstoppable. Our admiration, respect and gratitude for our Public Safety Heroes drives this.
