Vallen is focused on reducing our impact on the environment. Investing in industry partners and suppliers that share this focus enhances our waste management efforts and commitment to pursuing ways to reduce our energy and fleet consumption with the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. In 2023, we successfully diverted 20.6% of waste from landfills and saw a 13% reduction in purchased electricity equivalent to nearly three thousand tons of CO2 emissions. #Sustainability #IndustryPartners #SupplierPartners #WasteManagement #EmissionsReduction #Vallen

Mixed Waste Sorting (MWS) is a final stage solution for recovering recyclable materials such as plastics and metals before residual waste is incinerated or sent to landfill. It serves as a recovery backstop for recyclable materials not captured in deposit re-turn systems and separate collections effectively and is essential for meeting climate mitigation demands. By comparing a tonne of residual MSW sent directly to Waste-to-Energy, versus a tonne of residual MSW being sorted in facilities like Glanway which extract valuable recyclables and sends the remaining residual material to Waste-to-Energy, the emissions saved from MWS were 349KG of CO2(Eunomia, 2021).

Waste to energy with integrated carbon capture is tackling not one, but three major issues. ✅ It diverts waste away from landfills, mitigating the environmental consequences of burying our waste. ✅ It generates clean and sustainable energy, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. ✅ It captures and stores carbon emissions, fighting climate change. Just one waste-to-energy facility can prevent over 8.2 billion pounds of garbage from entering the landfill over 25 years, all while powering homes and businesses with clean electricity. But it doesn't stop there. Waste to energy with integrated carbon capture diverts up to 95% of carbon emissions from our current landfill practices. This means less pollution, cleaner land, and sustainable energy for all. By choosing waste to energy, we can ensure a brighter future for generations to come. #WasteToEnergy #WTE #CarbonCapture #CCUS #Varme

In the maritime industry, the requirements for cutting waste and reduce CO2 emissions are increasing. Stringent environmental legislation and higher costs for carbon emissions are quickly becoming a reality, and we continue to work on solutions to help our customers make necessary shifts to reach their climate goals. A big step in the right direction is to shift to our RecondOil Box. ◾️ By doing so, our customers can shift to a circular use of oil and can keep their oil consumption at a minimum. The need to extract, produce, refine, transport and discard industrial oil is drastically reduced by reusing our industrial oil.◾️In fact, they may never have to buy new oil again. Or dispose of used oil. On top of great cost benefits, it can also result in a significant reduction of their carbon footprint, next to substantial performance improvements and longer machine life. ◾️ Let’s keep industrial oil circular – for the ocean. #SKF

It's official. Shred Station is the UK waste industry's first-ever lifetime carbon-neutral company. This achievement started with an idea. We wanted our customers to experience not just a shredding service that recycles 100% of their paperwork, but a service that causes minimal environmental impacts entirely. In January 2019, this idea came to life. We became an annual CarbonNeutral® certified company. Each year since then, we have maintained this certification by reducing emissions, innovating, and offsetting the rest through verified projects. Then, the idea grew. We thought bigger. We wanted every customer who has ever used our services to have the same carbon-neutral experience. In 2023, we worked with Climate Impact Partners and Nature Positive on the mammoth task of assessing our historic emissions since formation. These emissions have now been offset in line with The CarbonNeutral Protocol. So, whether you used our services once back in 2008, or regularly for the past year, we've taken care of the emissions produced in the process. We are incredibly proud to be able to give back to our customers in this way, and hope you are as pleased as we are! As with all of our annual certifications, you can view the full Greenhouse Gas Report on our website for full transparency into our CO2e data. Waste avoidance and reduction saves resources, lessens pressure on landscapes, and saves GHG emissions. Waste avoidance and reduction is covered as "Scope 3 Emissions' in greenhouse gas protocols that our governments have negotiated. iWastenot Systems focuses on helping organizations avoid and reduce Scope 3 emissions.
