The numbers don’t lie — with turnover rates in roofing exceeding 50% annually, our industry faces a real challenge in building and maintaining strong, cohesive teams. As someone who has dedicated my career to connecting people with opportunity in the roofing sector, these stats hit hard. The #PeopleMakeRoofing campaign was launched with a purpose: to address these very issues head-on. We believe that by shining a spotlight on the incredible opportunities, the purpose, and the community within our industry, we can help reduce turnover and inspire a new generation to stay and grow within roofing. Through storytelling, mentorship, and initiatives led by passionate industry leaders, we’re working to foster an environment where people feel valued and have clear paths to growth. It’s about building a sense of pride, creating careers with purpose, and letting people see that roofing is more than just a job — it’s a community, a legacy, and a future. To everyone committed to making a difference in our industry, thank you. Together, we can turn these numbers around. #CommercialRoofing #RoofingTalent #RoofingContractor National Roofing Contractors Association Roofing Alliance Western States RCA RoofersCoffeeShop® Chicago Roofing Contractors Association (CRCA) Canadian Roofing Contractors Association

"As a trade, we're seeing ourselves higher. We're getting our stories together and creating a shift." - Charles Antis This quote from Charles resonates deeply with me as I reflect on our incredible journey of the roofing industry. I've witnessed firsthand how powerful it is when we come together, recognize our value, and share our stories. The transformation we're experiencing isn't just about changing perceptions—it's about redefining what it means to be a part of this industry. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with many passionate and dedicated professionals who inspire me daily. We've faced challenges, celebrated victories, and most importantly, we've learned the power of unity. By elevating our trade and telling our stories, we're not only changing how others see us but also how we see ourselves. This shift is vital for our future. It's about setting higher standards, fostering innovation, and creating more opportunities for everyone involved. We are building an industry that values expertise, celebrates hard work, and encourages growth. Together, we can create a lasting impact that ensures the roofing industry remains strong, respected, and vibrant for generations to come. He Who Has the People, Wins. This simple phrase has been at the heart of everything I’ve shared recently, and it couldn’t be more relevant to the roofing industry today. No matter how advanced our technology becomes or how big our businesses grow, it all comes down to the people. The people who show up every day, bring their passion and skills, and push our industry forward. I’ve been fortunate to meet and work alongside so many incredible people in this industry—mentors, leaders, and young talent just starting out. These are the individuals who inspire me to keep going, to keep spreading this message, and to keep advocating for the next generation of roofing professionals. If we focus on attracting, supporting, retaining and empowering the right people, we’ll solve the biggest challenges we face as an industry. Together, we can create an environment where people don’t just work—they thrive. This isn’t just about business growth; it’s about building something meaningful. It’s about creating opportunities for people to reach their full potential and leaving the industry in a better place than we found it. To all the people making a difference in roofing, let’s continue to invest in each other and show the world what we can achieve when we have the people. Jon Eskola, CEO of ESKOLA Roofing & Waterproofing, perfectly sums up the challenge we all face in the roofing industry: LABOR. Finding the right people, filling positions, and bringing on individuals who truly align with our organizations is not just a challenge for today—it’s a challenge for the next decade. As an industry, we need to collectively address this. It’s about more than just filling a role; it’s about finding dedicated professionals who see roofing as the incredible, purpose-driven career that it is. Through initiatives like #PeopleMakeRoofing, and this weeks World Championships in Austria, we’re shining a light on the vast opportunities within our trade, breaking down misconceptions, and inspiring the next generation. But we can’t do this alone. It requires collaboration across the entire industry—roofing companies, associations, and leaders all coming together to elevate our message. If we want to attract and retain top talent, we must: 1️⃣ Showcase the growth opportunities within roofing. 2️⃣ Highlight the rewarding purpose of what we do—keeping families and communities safe and dry. 3️⃣ Share our success stories and support those who are passionate about building careers in our field. Social media is more than just a platform for sharing — it’s a powerful window into our industry. The People Make Roofing campaign has shown just how vibrant and dedicated our community is. But for anyone considering a career in roofing, I encourage you to look deeper than the posts; go straight to the comments. In the comments, you’ll find insights, support, and genuine camaraderie from professionals all over the roofing industry. Recently, I shared a post, and while it received a few comments, one from Charles Antis really stood out: "What if everything we did, lifted everyone in our companies, communities & trade? I say, 'Cheers to all who believe it’s possible,' because once we believe, collaborators show up, like an 'Army of Good!'" This is what I’m talking about when I say we’re supported by people who put competition aside and focus on the bigger picture: the advancement of our industry. This sense of community is something I’ve never seen in any other field, and it’s what makes roofing so unique. Young people, if you’re looking for purpose, fulfillment, and a chance to make a genuine impact, know that in roofing, you’re joining more than just a trade — you’re joining a family. Our campaign, #PeopleMakeRoofing, aims to address the underlying issues of the generation gap, the aging workforce, and the outside world's perception of the roofing industry. We are collaborating with our colleagues across the entire industry to make this happen. However, it's great to see that new people are starting to enter the industry, as Rolf Snobeck, RRC recalls from his most recent visit to the Chicago Roofing Contractors Association (CRCA) annual trade show. The trade show, which Rolf has attended for the last 40 years, was a little different last time round. Rolf recalls that for roughly 35 years, it has always been the same people, and about five years ago, Rolf noticed, along with a few others, that they were all getting grey hair and nearing the end of their careers. There was a concern about who would take over, as there didn't seem to be any new people coming in. However, this time around about 80% of the attendees were new faces that Rolf had never met before. He walked out of there feeling energized because the next generation is coming along well. He talked to many of them, but there were hundreds more he didn't get the chance to meet. "People are coming into the industry, and that's a good thing—there's reason to be optimistic." On a personal level this fills me with great pride that we are now seeing more and more young people choosing the roofing industry and it's many career opportunities, but there's still work to be done! #PeopleMakeRoofing #CommercialRoofing McCormack Partners Roofing Recruitment Specialists National Roofing Contractors Association Roofing Alliance RoofersCoffeeShop®

Passion drives success in the roofing industry, a topic close to my heart. Recently, I sat down with Steve Little, head coach at KPost Company, for an enlightening discussion on this very subject. I posed a simple question to Steve: "What's your message for those shaping the roofing profession?" Steve's response was nothing short of inspiring. Steve emphasized the need for champions in our industry—those who passionately advocate for roofing, attracting fresh talent. "We must make roofing magnetic, irresistible," he stressed. "A place people long to be part of." Steve's words struck a chord. His call to action—to become champions for roofing—resonates deeply. "We need champions in every sector, willing to do more than just business". #PeopleMakeRoofing McCormack Partners Roofing Recruitment Specialists National Roofing Contractors Association Roofing Alliance RoofersCoffeeShop®
