March is #BrainInjuryAwarenessMonth. Upwards of 30% of Veterans who have served in conflicts have incurred a #TBI. What a privilege it was to serve as part of the Mind Over Matter team on this PCORI-funded Engagement Award project to give #veterans with a #traumaticbraininjury and their #caregivers an active voice by creating a veteran-driven roadmap to comparative clinical effectiveness research on TBI. https://lnkd.in/eeTnfrcn

Respectfully, Your wait times are out of control. The bad actors and their actions as highlighted by the OIG have added to these wait times. Recommendations: Train and insist that your scheduling staff to automatically refer all appointments that cannot be scheduled within 30 days of the date #veterans attempt to schedule appointments. This simple action aligns with the spirit of the Maintaining Internal Systems and Strengthening Integrated Outside Networks (MISSION) Act.

🤷♂️ Would #militaryfamilies like to retain their Medicaid access for children with special needs when they move? 🚀Absolutely! #EFMP and SNP families need all the supports they require that exceeds the ability of the military to provide. 🚚Before, families in states with little to no waiver wait lists would lose services upon #PCS to states with long wait lists. 👩⚖️This proposed legislation would close some of these gaps in service - but not all of them. Members moving between states with long wait lists may never have a chance to take advantage of Medicaid. 🏥More work needs to be done…improve #TRICARE ECHO, increase the number of states that allow transitioning military members to enter the wait list prior to establishing residence, or maybe create a military Medicaid wait list to insert families into the state wait list based on date. #militaryspouse

The Armed Forces Retirement Home is an independent federal entity that provides housing, health care, and other services to certain retired and disabled military personnel. AFRH faces serious financial challenges as revenues decrease and costs increase over time. The trust fund that finances AFRH's operations is at risk of being exhausted in 20 years. AFRH has some proposals to address these challenges, but it needs help from Congress to implement them. Congress should consider taking action to address AFRH's financial shortfalls. We also made 7 recommendations to AFRH, including that it develop more detailed plans for its proposals.
