Manager, Richard de Lisle kicks off the year with a VT De Lisle America Fund portfolio update: "The Fund gained 20% in 2023 and went to a new high. This was pleasing as it was a difficult year to do well in our neck of the woods, small-cap value. The S&P 500 equal weight was +12% and the Russell 2000 – the best small cap index - was at +15%. "We were overweight in financials and energy, two groups that were actually down on the year yet made up nearly 40% of the Fund. But we had so many doubles and triples in our cyclicals that the rest of the portfolio carried us.
