BLOWING MY OWN HORN! (because we need to celebrate our own success as well as others) Since April I'm hosting the first day Orientation Session for all new Volvo Cars employees in Gothenburg, Stockholm and Lund. The session is live at the west coast HQ and streamed to the other sites. I've developed the session to fit the remote format and during 1h15m I walk the new joiners through the company history focusing on safety innovations. I present our current state, corporate and product portfolio and we look into the future. And lastly I introduce them to our Blueprint, the why and how of our operations. The session ends with a practical info session before IT takes over. I've added interactive parts to this presentation to make it easier to stay engaged and active and also as a way for me to see how I'm doing. These include a small chat, a Q&A with a colleague and some polls. The sessions starts with the question "How are you doing?" to let everyone state the mood or vibe of the day. The sessions ends with the question "How are you doing now?" and I think the difference between the answers to these polls say a lot of the journey that the Orientation Session is. The new employees start off quiet but excited and at the end they are talkative, energized and ready to go. I'll share the results of this weeks final question and challenge you to ask your audience how they feel after presentations. It will help you stay on track and guide you forward.

1️⃣4️⃣ years with Doka and still counting ... Since 1st of July 2010, the Austrian "hidden champion" in concrete #formwork has been my first employer (in addition to a few summer jobs before that) 🤝 During that time period I've had multiple responsibilities within Doka. 👨💻 Engineering My first duty was the #formwork design on several major high-rise projects in India 🇮🇳, Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦, and other countries. After some years, my focus shifted to projects in Austria 🇦🇹. My personal, but also most challenging favorite: the portal structures at Gleinalm tunnel (http://bit.ly/3zAKyET). Back then, my first Concremote activities with customers started already. 💰 Business Development With the technical foundation as a solid base, I was asked some years ago to grow the #Concremote business in several countries. Not only it was an interesting opportunity, but also allowed me to visit various countries and customers. In addition I've met many amazing colleagues around the globe 🌍 🚀 Product Management Since 2017 my 'main' domain, thriving the development and deployment of IoT-enabled #digital solutions with our global sales team. Opportunity

This is a difficult subject because it will completely depend on the business you work for and their attitude towards innovation. In the 11 years I’ve worked for Blue Bay Travel, innovation has always been a priority. What makes us special is the internal software that we create. We have had to design full systems that work in the exact way our business needs. Other companies paid for a standard service but we didn’t. By having a united workflow within the business, we had an advantage. This would not have been possible without the developers constantly learning and developing new skills. However, this upskilling wasn’t done during business hours. When I first started, we had to get as many tasks completed as possible and this meant all learning needed to be done outside of business hours. Thankfully that is no longer the case. Working in the technology industry, there is an understanding that if you want to keep progressing in your career, you will always have to do things outside of business hours. However, I believe it’s the responsibility of a business to ensure employees don’t burn out. The pressure of always being innovative without dedicated time to learn is an unnecessary stress. Ensuring developers have an opportunity to improve and get excited about the tech industry is more valuable than getting one extra task completed each week. Constantly having to onboard new team members because the others burnt out and left is expensive, both in time and money. These are a few of the changes we made to help our Development team. 1️⃣ Dedicated time each week to learn. 2️⃣ Gave our team members a greater variety of tasks. 3️⃣ Added extra time to task estimations, if research was required. The company I work for was acquired back in November... Having never been through this before my head was filled with so many questions about what my future held in this role. I mean, our team went from 14 to 200 in the matter of days. While typical onboarding involves a leisurely two-week acclimatization period, here we are, diving headfirst into full-time responsibilities alongside our newfound colleagues, grappling with unfamiliar software on our Macs, and juggling an overwhelming amount of emails, messages, and meetings. The chaos was palpable, especially for a neurodivergent like myself. Gone are the days of traditional hierarchies; instead, we've embraced a Team of Teams ethos, where we're granted autonomy and accountability in all of our work. And just like that, we became a remote-first workplace. Fast forward four months... I couldn't be more grateful for how all of this has unfolded. There's not been one single person at GMB that has an ego, that hasn't been available for help no matter when I've needed it. They've answered so many questions, invited us into their work, listened to us, given us room to process, allowed silence so that everyone has space to speak, and have approached every concern, every comment, every question with an open mind. Remote-first work has woven seamlessly into the fabric of my family... and has given us life again. Team of teams has been nothing short of transformative (albeit challenging). But its empowered me to step into leadership and given me to confidence to make decisions on my own which has given me room to do my best work. I know this is a very unusual experience for an acquisition and I truly count myself lucky everyday to have the support and care that I do at work. What was once a great job has now become something truly special, thanks to the remarkable individuals at GMB and my amazing teammates at Up&Up, a GMB Brand. Their warm embrace has turned what could have been a daunting acquisition into a shared journey of innovation and growth. I am so grateful.
