𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗼𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗡𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 \\ As an event producer, I’ve learned that every detail counts, especially in logistics. The recent challenges at the No Values Punk Rock Festival highlight the importance of planning every part of the attendee experience. While crafting an unforgettable lineup is crucial, the success of an event also depends on smooth operations from arrival to departure.
Here are key takeaways for planning your events:
Promote Alternative Transportation: Use nearby public transport options and shuttles to reduce traffic and enhance convenience.
Ensure Accurate Communication: Provide clear and timely information about parking and transport options to avoid confusion.
Transportation Equity: Offer options beyond personal vehicles to make events more inclusive. Public transport aligns with the punk movement's ethos of equality and justice.
Future Planning: Capitalize on improvements in public transit infrastructure and balance the benefits with potential challenges.
By planning every aspect of the attendee journey, we can ensure our events are memorable for their content and seamless execution. Let’s learn from these missteps and strive to create events that rock from start to finish.

Have you read this month’s Land & Business magazine from The CLA? 📰
Englefield House and the wider Estate is featured as a case study about diversification for rural businesses, highlighting the Heritage Live Festivals summer concerts as an example of a unique social experience and commercial opportunity for Estates.
Our Estates Director, Edward Crookes and Events Manager, Peter Carson, spoke with Jasmin McDermott at The CLA about the intricacies of planning these large events, the importance of working with an organiser who is aligned with the Estate’s values, as well as the benefits these types of events have for those who live locally and work at Englefield.
Edward said: “The filming and events operation forms an important part of the estate’s enterprises in diversifying our sources of income; they make a vital contribution to the costs of maintaining the historic fabric of Englefield House, the park and gardens.
“They are hard work for the team, but also great fun and a busy events calendar enriches estate life for those who live and work here.”

Milton wreaked havoc in its pathway through Florida, and some are saying that Miami Carnival should be cancelled as a result. While it may seem like a respectful thing to sacrifice enjoyment while others are experiencing sorrow, we urge you to reconsider the assumption.
• Let’s start with the recognition that Miami did not experience the havoc. To us in the Caribbean, it may seem that Tampa, Orlando, Sarasota and other cities that were hard hit are very closeby, and there will be scenes of costumed revellers passing boarded up homes and destruction but… no. In fact, Miami is as far away from major damage as many of our islands are from each other.
• Now think about the thousands of people who are the patrons of Miami Carnival. Thousands who have put time, money, effort, travel bookings and more in place. These people should not be easily dismissed as if they are meaningless.
• Let’s also consider that the practitioners, event promoters, designers, DJs (the list goes on and on), etc. are not able to absorb their costs entirely and give up all the revenue. This is entirely unrealistic. Please do not look at organisers as soulless profiteers, they produce a product tied to a 3-day festival and deserve compensation for their talent and work.
• Finally, never ever EVER think that Caribbean culture is not valuable. Disneyworld and Universal Studios have announced that they are opening their doors tomorrow morning. You cannot say that our Steelpan, J’ouvert, Parade, Concerts and Parties are offensive when the behemoths of mainstream entertainment are running business as usual.
So Make a Mas’ in Miami! Spread the Culture! Spread some Joy! It’s needed.

Didja know... You're Still "My Type"?
Here's a follow up to a post I made many weeks back on perseverance, maintaining focus & then taking the next courageous step into the unknown ... Y'all might remember that it was one about that little song that just kept going, "My Type" by the band Saint Motel.
I told the story about how this song took the band from being a small regional act to one that got a recording deal, manages to run itself as a consistently profitable business, continues to record great songs, and tours every year... on its own terms!
Just to refresh your social media memory, the "My Type" demo was produced in around 2013 and was released on a US label only after debuting in the UK and Europe. Since that time, "My Type" showed up in glitzy commercials, films, and TV. It's become the kind of song that gets played at weddings or by marching bands in half-time shows.
A friend from the band sent me a text last week that both blew my mind and filled me with optimism as someone who builds and produces stuff. He wrote, "Dude, RIAA just certified 'My Type' as platinum and three other of our songs as gold." For those who don't follow the music industry, what that means is that this little song that keeps going has now sold 1,000,000 copies.
KABOOM!
For those of you out there creating stuff or building a business, here's my unsolicited encouragement.
1. Stay Focused. Know (and feel) what you want. Look where you're going.
2. Have Faith (and patience). Not just Hope, but honest-to-goodness Faith. If what you're doing is good and how you're doing it is consistently improving, the results will be exactly what they're meant to be.
3. Keep Improving, Keep Evolving.
4. Find Ways To Collaborate. That typically starts with being curious and asking for help.
5. Stay Out Of The Results. The results, like selling 1,000,000 copies, come from the ongoing work of honing the process.
6. Be In Love With The Work. You won’t always like it, but you can still love it.
Here's one final thought on how to direct your energy. Stop trying to appear impressive or be seen in a particular way. This is one of those platforms that is particularly conducive to "impression management." Sustainability and longevity are where it's at, so just keep focusing on doing your thing really really well.
In the meantime, Saint Motel is on a massive US tour. Go see 'em. You won't be disappointed.
Onward!

🍬 There will be no brown M&M’s in the backstage area, upon pain of forfeiture of the show, with full compensation
Article #126 (Van Halen Concert Rider)
-The "no brown M&M's" clause in Van Halen's contract is a famous example of using a seemingly trivial detail to ensure that the larger, more critical terms of the contract were read and followed precisely.
-Band rationale was that if the promoter overlooked this small detail, it might indicate neglect in other, more significant technical requirements that could compromise safety and show quality.
-In large-scale hospitality events or complex operations like resorts or arenas, introducing specific clauses in contracts can serve as a test for operational readiness.
