The 2024 State of BC's Non-Profit Sector Report is out! Under Pressure is the fourth installment in a series initiated by a partnership between Vantage Point, Vancouver Foundation, The Victoria Foundation, City of Vancouver, United Way British Columbia and Vancity Community Foundation. In this year’s state of the sector survey, we surveyed 558 non-profit organizations across BC to check-in around various trends while also probing deeper into the underlying challenges highlighted in the last report. The report provides consistent, high-quality data, crucial to understanding the non-profit sector in BC, and equipping funders, policy makers, and other sector stakeholders with relevant data to make informed decisions and better support the current needs of BC’s non-profit sector. Our latest State of the Sector Report: Under Pressure reveals a complexity of feelings being experienced by people and organizations in the sector. Non-profits in BC are feeling the pressure of operating in less resilient times, as they are overwhelmed by the need to stretch their capacity to meet the ongoing needs of the communities they serve. Conversely, the sector also remains hopeful, optimistic, and continues to be needed, now more than ever, to promote more equitable and thriving communities. This is an important read. Today Vantage Point and other organizations released the 2024 State of BC's Non-Profit Sector report. To say the sector is under pressure is an understatement. Your favorite cause is most likely struggling and non-profit staff are facing increasing workloads to try and meet the growing demand. I can also say these findings are not unique to BC. Take a few minutes to read the report (or at least the summary). Now more than ever the sector needs advocacy and support. You may not always notice the work that an organization does.. but trust me, you will notice if they no longer existed.

📢 Under Pressure: New Insights into BC's Non-Profit Sector Vantage Point has released the latest installment of their comprehensive survey of 558 non-profit organizations in BC. Titled "Under Pressure," this report uncovers critical trends and challenges facing the non-profit sector, mirroring patterns I have wrote about in previous months, seen across Canada. 🔍 Key Themes Identified: 1. Less Resilient Times: The cost of living and running services is soaring. Revenue streams remain the same or are decreasing. Significant changes seen in just one year, with 2023 reports suggesting sector stability. 2. Overburdened Organizations: Skyrocketing demand for services, with non-profits filling gaps left by governments and communities. Many organizations report feeling overwhelmed.
