BREAKING: Multiple ocean carriers have started omitting the Port of Charleston from sailing schedules due to worsening delays in the wake of the port system outage two weeks ago. Construction work on a toe wall at Wando Welch Terminal combined with the software system issue has led to 10-day waiting times for vessels as of May 29, with vessels at the North Charleston Terminal seeing delays of around 2 days. The South Carolina Port Authority has stated that the waiting times for Wando Welch should decrease to 2-3 days over the next few weeks. However, various carriers have decided to omit the Port of Charleston in the meantime, with some removing calls from mid-June through mid-July. Although there have been no formal announcements of these omissions, we are now seeing updated sailing schedules for some vessels departing at the beginning and middle of June omitting the Port of Charleston.
