The global #robotics market is projected to experience a threefold increase, rising from $72 billion in 2022 to an impressive $283 billion by 2032. Within this broader context, market projections indicate a staggering growth in the #construction robotics sector, with an expected value of $682 million by 2028. This surge is fueled by the increasing demand for intelligent, secure, and durable structures. Britain must leverage the use of construction robotics and automation or risk being left behind on the global landscape, the National Roboatrium's Pete Felton writes https://bit.ly/4am5Eo8

Of course, this video could be AI-generated and not real, However, the construction industry is on the cusp of a transformation driven by robotics, changing the way a project is carried out. As the demand for efficiency, safety, and skilled labour rises, construction robotics is emerging as a game-changer. As technology advances and the demand for automation intensifies, construction robots will become increasingly ubiquitous on building sites. This will lead to a more efficient, safe, and productive construction industry, paving the way for a brighter future for the sector. Adversely, it is expected that the need for manual labour will be significantly decreased shortly, as a considerable amount of work will be conducted automatically. However, I strongly believe that construction robots aren't here to replace the current workforce. Instead, artificial intelligence within the industry can adapt and improve the actual job, not the people. Many construction robots rely on human intelligence to operate. What do you think? #robotics #construction #constructionrobotics #technology #constructioncost

I love reading about innovation and automation in the construction industry. The article points out that the construction industry lags behind many others in adopting technology. Hopefully, this can change soon. I would love to see more robots in construction to help alleviate labor shortages, improve safety, and increase productivity. I Can Swarm Robotics Help Construction? Among key features of Doosan Robotics H-series, my top pick is ‘High+ Energy Efficiency’ by gravity compensation mechanism. Well, to handle payload, at first, a robot should lift its Weight against gravity. This means continous acceleration and consumes electric power to hold the payload in the air. And with additional power, the Mass can be moved vertically and horizontally. (You remember Weight and Mass, don’t you?) While most cobots uses only motor to do both but H-series has counter-balance or gravity compensation mechanism inside Link1 to help robot to lift the Weight against earth gravity. This makes robot feels it is on some place with reduced gravity. I am not sure the number but for example, on the Moon. This is how we say ‘High+ Energy Efficiency’ and H2017 can be operated with the same controller with M-series. And for some cases H2017 consumes less power than M1013, while it lift twice Weight and reach 30% further. If you are considering a palletizing robot around 20kg & 1700mm, you should check power consumption to manage your TCO and operation cost.

The National Robotics Strategy is finally out. Thanks Ed Husic MP, Bronwyn Fox, Mitch Bruce I like the recommendations under National Capability: 1. Boost research and development, commercialisation and scaling up of Australian solutions targeting areas of Australian strength 2. Use government’s purchasing power to grow domestic demand for robotics and automation. 3. Raise the profile of Australia’s robotics and automation capabilities and supply chains locally and globally. 4. Leverage Australia’s international partnerships and networks, as well as state and territory governments to create new opportunities. All important points. 1. Yes scaling up is so important - and equally important is keeping these companies in Australia. #stickyinnovation 2. Procurement is the single most important problem facing Australian SME's. If we are to make Australian Robots - then we need to Buy Australian robots #AustralianMadeRobots #forwardprocurement 3. Knowledge Diffusion is the no1 challenge facing the adoption or new technology in this country - #knowledgeDiffusion #NationalDataStrategy 4. We desperately need to support Australian Networks with funding. IMHO robotics needs a funded National Robotics Centre, just like Quantum and AI have. #whataboutme Thanks for the opportunity to provide some feedback. Here is my submission from last year. https://lnkd.in/gK_k7Z7X Which was derived from my article on Australian Made Robots https://lnkd.in/gwY_NqJs Whilst there is many example of case studies of robotics in Australian. What concerns me, is what is missing. There are no examples of the robots developed and deployed here in Australia, from OEM's such as Caterpillar Inc., Komatsu, Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia, Epiroc, Kalmar, Dematic, Rheinmetall, BAE Systems Australia. From a quick count in Linkedin, this represents 1000's of people working in robotics. The only multinational OEM is Boeing with Ghost Bat. And IMDEX with Blast Dog As I commented in my submission, It's akin to Holden, Ford, and Toyota failing to attend an automotive strategy meeting forty years ago. It's as if we're experiencing hemianopia, unable to see half of the world. Without a full view, any strategy we develop is inherently incomplete. In addition the strategy comments that, "The Australian resources industry is a world leader in using robotics and automation. Our mining industry has over 700 autonomous haulage trucks, with more in production (Mine 2022)." Unfortunately, there is no mention of the resources industry's role in supporting an Australian robotics industry. As I noted in my submission, I would like to see their social license extend beyond tax contributions and employment to include the creation and support of the Australian robotics industry, as this is a sovereign capability. #nationalRoboticsStrategy
