Cancer continuously proves to be a complicated, multi-faceted disease, and while research breakthroughs are improving outcomes for patients, equity in access to these breakthroughs remains a challenge. This year, #WorldCancerResearchDay 2024 has aptly focused on bridging gaps in care through the theme “Innovation in Cancer Research Drives Progress Toward Health Equity.” In line with this, I want to highlight the pivotal role of our talented Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), who act as key facilitators of innovative research. Their work ensures that groundbreaking advancements reach the healthcare providers and patients who need them most. MSLs engage with healthcare providers in a precise, tailored way, translating cutting-edge research into real-world solutions. By fostering trust and collaboration with oncologists, MSLs help ensure that patients from all backgrounds can receive personalized, high-quality care based on the latest scientific developments. Their strategic engagements enable healthcare teams to apply the most advanced treatments in a way that is relevant to each patient’s unique needs. This direct connection to the World Cancer Research Day message is clear – while innovation drives progress, it’s the work of skilled communicators like MSLs that ensure these advancements reach all patients, contributing to greater health equity. Following an exciting past few weeks between WCLC, ESMO, and now World Cancer Research Day, thank you to the MSLs who conduct this critical work. You are driving both #innovation and #equity in our efforts to eliminate cancer as a cause of death. #OncologyCare #MSLImpact #CancerResearch #HealthEquity #PrecisionMedicine

🚀 Proud to share! The whitepaper “Good Practices in Lung Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs)” has been released as part of the MDT Aid Program (MAP). This achievement marks the culmination of extensive MAP efforts across the US, Europe, Canada and China, providing hospitals with innovative tools and strategies to improve MDT-based lung cancer care. 🌟 MAP, a collaborative creation by our Commercial Digital Health team regional and in-country teams, aims to standardize MDTs and enhance their efficiency. While MDTs are essential in cancer care, disparities in access, processes and technology persist. Our aim is to define and implement best practices, supporting hospitals in adopting cutting-edge solutions worldwide. 👏 Cheers to my AstraZeneca co-authors Heather Moses, Adrien Moucquot, S. Hassan N., María Teresa Campos, and our Vintura partners.. We also extend gratitude to the numerous co-authors and endorsing healthcare institutions. Your contributions are pivotal in the ongoing success of MAP and its positive impact on global patient care. https://lnkd.in/er7dspAC #LungCancer #MDTAidProgram #HealthcareInnovation #collectiveintelligence
