Ever wondered how scientific ideas are turned into real-world solutions? 💡 From new drugs to treat deadly diseases to new systems for smarter machines—we see cutting-edge discoveries make headlines every day. But making these scientific breakthroughs happen is not that simple and it can’t be achieved alone. As A*STAR Innovation and Enterprise Assistant Chief Executive Yee-Chia Yeo puts it: “Ultimately, collaborations are about leverage: they multiply force and shorten time. By uniting differentiated capabilities across domains, we achieve greater objectives. This is the power of partnership.” In our cover story in the latest A*STAR Research issue, we highlight the value of collaboration in accelerating innovation, both locally and globally. #CaseInPoint: Public agencies like A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research act as innovation engines by building strategic relationships across the globe which, in turn, help bridge the gaps in local capabilities. 🤝 As a result of local and international partners working together, research ideas are developed into solutions and brought to market for greater societal impact. Head to the comments section to learn more about A*STAR’s initiatives that inspire collaboration to address global problems. ⬇️ --- #scicomm #science #technology #STEM #research #innovation #ASTAR #collaboration #partnership #Singapore

Why Asia? In case you missed it, this week we took a massive stride at LSI — one that we anticipate will better support the industry we love: The launch of LSI Asia, the third geography in our global Emerging Medtech Summit series, which will be inaugurated with LSI Asia ‘25 at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore (June 10-13, 2025). The response from our community has been tremendous. Amidst the excitement, the question of “Why Asia?” was one I received a few times yesterday. So, why the time is right for LSI (and you) to take special interest in Asia and its role in global Medtech and Healthtech?: 1. Innovation We’ve seen a shift from “me too” plays in the region to innovation at the forefront of Deep Tech, Robotics, AI, and more. Chronic diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancers, and diseases of aging are driving policy, investment, startups. 2. Investment Plethora of strong and increasingly-sophisticated venture investors and LPs across established areas, and emerging areas like Singapore. Singapore in particular has the right conditions in place for flexible and efficient investment: a supportive government, prominent institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and high-net-worth individuals, and attractive tax and financial structures. 3. Partnerships and BD The data doesn’t lie. LSI’s Market Intelligence projects that China will surpass the US in total surgical procedure volumes in 2024, with four of the five fastest growing countries in total volume being China, India, South Korea, and Singapore. With the established partnerships between academia, government, and innovation, and outsized production of locally-made medical devices, the region is ripe for global partnerships in an increasingly global industry. I have more thoughts on Asia and why we chose this location, and will be publishing them on our website this week. In the meantime, get in touch with us if you'd like to get involved at LSI Asia ‘25. Details here -> https://lnkd.in/e-P687Eh See you in Singapore.

What comes to your mind when you hear the name ODIN? If it’s an old guy with birds on his shoulders, here’s a new one for you: ODIN is The Open Discovery Innovation Network. A patent-free drug discovery and diagnostics platform funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation. The scientific scope of the programme is cardiovascular diseases, cardiometabolic diseases and infectious diseases. ODIN bridges the gap between academia and industry, facilitating open, precompetitive research collaborations. The initiative is rooted at Aarhus University, but five Danish universities are partners, and the collaboration opportunities extend to international participants, creating a global network of innovation 🌍 💡 One unique aspect of ODIN is that all funded projects share their knowledge with the public, allowing for free commercial use. This open approach eliminates the need for IP negotiations, making it easier and faster to initiate projects. 🤝 As a company, you can join ODIN at no cost and are not required to make cash contributions. While active participation is encouraged, there are no fixed levels of contributions or time registration required. This flexible model is designed to foster collaboration without barriers. Do it for the easy of collaboration, scouting of new technology and talent, access to new resources and to de-risk wild ideas. 🎉 ODIN also offers a series of matchmaking and ideation events. These events provide a platform to showcase research needs and project ideas, find partners, and receive valuable input from the ODIN community. Their digital matchmaking platform is open, making it easy to connect and collaborate. And you can pitch either an idea, method or product. Read all about it right here: https://lnkd.in/dYzSzz4H
