10 years ago, Acadia University’s firetube boilers exhibited significant scaling on the boiler tubes that reduced heat transfer and increased fuel cost. Veolia’s Solus* boiler dispersant helped prevent further deposition and dislodge existing deposits. This resulted in $77,500 in yearly savings and a reduction of 13 MT of CO₂. Gas-Solid Separation Systems: EP aka ESP Electrostatic Precipitator, a device that uses an electric charge to remove certain impurities-either solid particles or liquid droplets-from air or other gases in smokestacks and other flues. One of the promising, established, Post Combustion control mechanisms, an ESP works by imparting a positive or negative charge to particles in the flue gas stream. The particles are then attracted to an oppositely charged plate or tube and removed from the collection surface to a hopper by rapping the collection surface. Electrostatic precipitators are important tools in the process of cleaning up flue gases. They are highly effective at reducing particle pollution. If released into the atmosphere, such particulates reduce visibility, can contribute to climate change, and lead to serious health problems, including lung damage and bronchitis. Popular Dry electrostatic precipitators operate above the dew point of the gas stream to remove impurities from smoke and dust. Wet electrostatic precipitators, in contrast, operate with saturated airstreams that have more relative humidity. At Rieco Industries Limited our teams had established deeper knowledge and know-how on these systems. Keep exploring with us for solutions in such Gas-Solid separation systems, and to provide solutions for any existing performance issues or any upgrades needs. Our established references are not limited to combustion of Bio-Fuels fired boiler flue gases, petcoke fired Glass Furnaces flue gases, Coal (Sub-bituminous, lignite, Anthracite) fired boilers, Coke Oven Gas, Alkali bypass system, Clinker cooler applications etc. Keep in touch and would be happy to support. #Boilers #BioFuel #Airpollutioncontrol #Thermalpower #WTE #Particulatecontrol

Recovery BLOX System Overview and Principles Some recovery boilers use waste heat from the combustion gases to evaporate water from incoming black liquor. This increases the efficiency in the amount of steam produced by the boiler. In direct contact evaporators, hot combustion gases directly contact black liquor. This concentrates the black liquor using waste heat, but it also adds unwanted emissions of malodorous sulfur gases to the flue gas. The black liquor oxidation (BLOX) system is designed to pre-treat the black liquor to minimize these emissions. This module covers direct contact evaporators and the theory and operation of the BLOX system. Before a sample with an unknown value can be analysed the heat capacity or energy equivalent of the bomb calorimeter must be determined. The value resulting from the burning of the calibration standard of Benzoic Acid represents the heat capacity of the calorimeter. These energy equivalents are determined at regular intervals during the day by the burning of the standardization material Benzoic Acid which has a known heat of combustion value. We refer to this as required calibrations #dds #ddscalorimeters #calorimeter #bombcalorimeter #oxygenbombcalorimeter #calibration

Key point that is often lost in discussions. Some DAC processes like humid environments, others hate it. Some work best in desert and some work best in the swamps of Louisiana. The difference is a solid or liquid sorbent and it is key. One Point Five (OXY) is using a liquid sorbent tech that requires lots of water and would like very high humidity so all the fluids don't evaporate. An et al. 2022 stated "We observe that a CO2 capture rate of 75 % is only possible above 17 °C and 90 % relative humidity" [for liquid sorbent based CO2 DAC systems] Some solid sorbent projects like Heirloom use calcinators (yes that is a word) and air contactors. These need low humidity to work. Otherwise their calcite turns to mush. Katerina Yared, P.G. PMP Daisy GallagherZach Liu, PE, PG, CFA

#HeatToCool – The GEA Blu-Red Fusion is particularly suited for combined cooling/refrigeration and heating demands at low heat source temperature levels and high temperature lifts between heat source and heat sink. The intermediate stage is equipped with one single, efficient ammonia-ammonia “cascade” heat exchanger. Not only does the design drastically reduce the equipment offer, it also makes an intermediate liquid cycle redundant which reduces the differential pressure of both stages and does not waste more Kilowatts on glycol or water pumps. The efficiency plus easily reaches double digit numbers. This means a dramatic reduction of energy costs and CO2 emissions. #DecarbHeat #HeatPumps #Refrigeration #NetZero
