2024 is the year of elections – from the recent elections in Taiwan to the US presidential race culminating in November, we’ve never witnessed more people all over the world casting their ballot. In Europe, over 400 million people are eligible to vote in this year’s EU parliament elections. 🇸🇰 Slovakia’s recent elections saw Robert Fico’s nationalist party invited to form a coalition in the country. With this election, the European nation is seen to be turning away from the Western status quo and toward a new model of European governance. European Parliament Constituency Review 2023 We have made our recommendations to the Houses of the Oireachtas about how Ireland's #EuropeanParliament constituencies should be shaped for June's elections. With an extra MEP seat allocated to Ireland, An Coimisiún Toghcháin, The Electoral Commission recommends: ▶ The transfer of Laois and Offaly from the South constituency to the Midlands-North-West constituency. ▶ The addition of one seat to that Midlands-North West Constituency to make it a 5 seat constituency.
