Consistent performance evaluation is essential for maintaining high standards in international student recruitment. However, our latest survey reveals that many universities are missing critical opportunities to support and optimise their agent partnerships. 76% of universities conduct only annual performance reviews, limiting opportunities for timely feedback and improvement. In contrast, just 6% of universities review agent performance monthly, another 6% conduct quarterly reviews, 6% opt for ad-hoc reviews, and 6% use other evaluation methods as needed. Relying primarily on annual reviews can delay the identification of issues and hinder the ability to provide agents with the support they need to meet recruitment goals. More frequent evaluations allow institutions to provide timely feedback, address challenges proactively, and adapt strategies in response to changing market demands. As global competition for students intensifies, universities need agile and proactive evaluation strategies to stay ahead. This is just one of many insights from our upcoming report, “Unity in Education: A Survey Report on University-Agent Partnerships in the UK”. Evaluating recruitment agents is essential to maintaining high standards and ensuring successful student enrolments. However, our latest survey reveals a strong focus on quantity over quality when it comes to performance metrics used by universities. 🔶 94% of universities assess agent performance based on the number of students recruited, emphasizing volume as a key indicator of success. 🔶 76% also consider the quality of students, recognizing the importance of well-matched candidates. 🔶 70% of institutions place value on ethical compliance, reinforcing the need for integrity in recruitment practices. 🔶 53% monitor student retention rates, acknowledging the importance of long-term student success. Interestingly, student-centric metrics receive significantly less attention: Despite their crucial role in shaping institutional reputation and student experience, only 23% of universities measure student satisfaction, and an equal 23% consider student feedback in their agent evaluations. This data highlights an opportunity for institutions to take a more balanced and student-focused approach in agent performance reviews, combining both quantitative and qualitative insights to drive meaningful improvements. The cookie-cutter approach to business education is facing a critical scrutiny. The rise of AI has created a diverse landscape of new and redefined roles, demanding a shift from "industrial batch processing" to personalized learning. Each student deserves guidance tailored to their individual strengths and aspirations. At JAGSoM - Jagdish Sheth School of Management, we've recognized this need and are implementing significant changes, beginning with a more nuanced candidate selection process and extending this emphasis throughout our programs. #BusinessEducation #AI #FutureofWork #PersonalizedLearning #JAGSoM Sanjay Padode | Venkatesh Sunkad | Sivagnanasundaram M | Srijith Mohanann | Dr. Supriyo Ghose | Dr. Shaji Kurian |Dr. Sasmita Giri
One size fits all” theory is dead. However education is yet stuck in the same paradigm and has not moved on. In this dynamic and rapidly changing world the job roles and jobs by themselves are changing by the year. To prepare a learner face this, institutes need to work on knowledge, skills and attitude. In my view emphasis on attitude needs more attention. A management school has just two years to polish its Students for the existing job roles. Unfortunately this time is not enough to change or develop attitude. The lack of the right attitude inspite of having the best aptitude can result in a loss of career opportunities for a student who joins a management school. JAGSoM - Jagdish Sheth School of Management has mapped the job and career opportunities sorrounding its local system and the ecosystem of its partner schools. Having done that we have made an attempt to identify the competencies required for our students to crack the best placement opportunities that are available in our local and our partner school’s ecosystem. Besides just the competencies the school has also mapped the attributes of attitude associated with such opportunities. To overcome the time constraints of changing and/or developing the required attitude. The institution has introduced psychometric testing to gauge the attitudinal attributes so that the school can select the student with the right attitude and assure them of the best career opportunities and live upto the school’s promise to deliver “learner success”. Thanks to Prof Jagdish Sheth and the board members of JAGSOM to permit the faculty to introduce this innovative method of finding the right fitment amongst the aspiring students. Introducing the SHL psychometric test along with the legacy aptitude testing through entrance examination scores and re-affirming the attitude through a physical interview. Here are five key strategies I used in the past 24 months that have driven success: Build a High-Value Agent Network: Focus on identifying and partnering with top-performing education agents. While some may be challenging to secure, others will be open to collaboration. Prioritize by Enrollment Potential: Rank agents by their ability to bring in high numbers of quality students. Consistent engagement with these partners can yield better results than multiple smaller partnerships. Replace Underperforming Agents: Continuously evaluate your agent network. Focus your efforts on those who consistently deliver results. Stay Disciplined and Persistent: Regular outreach and follow-up are key. Agents will reconsider their partner institutions, and your persistence will keep you top of mind. By following these steps, you'll build a strong network of education agents, driving substantial growth in international student enrollments. Melbourne University does it well... Mastering the Right Recruitment Narrative: A Key to Consistent Success with Education Agents In the competitive world of international student recruitment, a well-crafted narrative isn’t just important—it’s essential. Many providers hope for the best, but only a strategic narrative will have education agents eager to partner with you. Here are five key narratives to master: Why Change Narrative: Lead with insights that highlight why agents should promote your institution. Without a compelling reason, they’ll stick with their current partners. Expertise Narrative: Position your institution as a trusted leader in international education. If you’re not seen as an authority, agents will find one who is. Partner Narrative: Differentiate yourself as a strategic partner, not just another provider. Create ongoing value that sets you apart from competitors. Innovation Narrative: Showcase your institution’s cutting-edge programs and facilities. Agents want to work with schools that lead the industry, not those stuck in the past. Student Success Narrative: Share success stories of students who have thrived at your institution. This builds the confidence agents need to recommend you to their clients. Master these narratives, and you’ll not only attract more education agents but also create lasting value and drive consistent student enrollments. Found this useful? ♻️ Share it with your network and follow for more strategies in international student recruitment! #InternationalEducation #StudentRecruitment #EducationAgents #GrowthStrategy #EnrollmentSuccess #Australia

Dissatisfaction, burnout, and an institution's unwillingness or inability to change have created ongoing vacancies. The challenge is global, but it is not often spoken about in this context. 📚 You hear or read about the issue of staffing in Western education in places like North America or Europe. Universities can spend >5% of total annual expenditure on #agent #commission, plus nearly the same again on related operational costs. This can be tens of millions a year, yet STILL results in missed targets for many. We've created a free 12-page guide for senior university leaders that shows how & where inefficiencies are baked into recruitment processes, and how to mitigate or optimise these. The outcomes: lower acquisition spends, and increased recruitment volumes. For a free e-copy of these unique insights, just message. #universities #highereducation #intled
