👀 Looks can be deceiving 'cos that looks like a nice place to cool off but naaa! That’s the activated sludge reactor tank at our Snells Beach wastewater treatment plant. The tank – which has three chambers - will be home to microorganisms that feed on wastewater aka 💩 Once they’re done with their meal, what’s left on the plate or in this case the tank, will be treated wastewater ready for further treatment. What you’re looking at is the tank being filled with water to make sure it’s watertight before the mechanical fit out takes place. When we’ve ticked the watertight box off the to-do list, the H2O will be re-used for more testing across the plant. All this mahi contributes to the building of a new wastewater treatment plant complete with bells, whistles and microorganisms for treating wastewater over the next 35 years 👍 #wastewater #infrastructure #construction #auckland #WaterIndustry #projects #partnerhips #engineering #team

In honor of National Water Quality Month, we asked our Hydrologists why water quality is important in a project and this is what they said. ⬇️ "Stormwater runoff contains pollutants from various sources including trash, sediment, debris, heavy metals, and chemicals. Since many of these contaminants are bound to suspended solids, the simplest and most effective treatment method is the removal of these solids. This can be accomplished in many ways, from something as simple as a retention pond to standalone hydrodynamic separators. At Schoel, we take the unique characteristics of every project into consideration when deciding on a water quality treatment method. All aspects of a site: project footprint, necessary treatment volume, pollutant loading, and infrastructure capabilities are examined to develop the ideal water quality component for each client while working with each department to maintain the integrity of the overall site design." Central Coast Council had to overcome a worsening stormwater problem🌊 on Sydney Avenue, Umina Beach. To rectify this and effectively manage the stormwater, the Council sought to integrate an underground infiltration tank with an upstream treatment device. The proprietary products used were ACO StormBrixx tanks and HydroCon permeable concrete pipes. Through a strategic combination of our HydroCon permeable concrete pipes and ACO’s StormBrixx, we've pioneered a solution that treats stormwater directly at its source and stores it for gradual infiltration. Over 60m of HydroCon permeable pipes were seamlessly integrated with ACO StormBrixx water storage tanks to form the system. Stormwater enters the HydroCon pipes and exfiltrates through the permeable concrete wall while filtering out pollutants and high rates of suspended solids. Clean, exfiltrated water then enters the ACO StormBrixx infiltration tank for temporary storage as it infiltrates into the surrounding sandy soils. BREAKING NEWS. Potsdam, NY, and Barton & Loguidice select Electro Scan Inc. to complete a 100% of all water service lines to identify lead drinking water pipes. The Village’s consulting engineering firm was originally considering working with a national water quality testing firm that proposed hydro-excavation, but determined more accurate technologies that are less disruptive to water customers would be preferred. The project will use Electro Scan’s award-winning #SWORDFISH. Congratulations to Electro Scan’s Mike App for being on hand to present to the Village council, and the unanimous vote for the amended work. Still plagued with UNKNOWNs?
