Having spent 5 memorable years in Sudan, making so many friends along the way, it has been heartbreaking to watch what has been happening there over the last 18 months. Last week's Economist edition put a spotlight on the unfolding catastrophe, calling it "the world's worst humanitarian crisis" with ripple effects being felt across three continents. There were over 3.3 million cases of malaria in Sudan in 2022, the majority of which were children. Our friends Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) are planning to kick off a seasonal malaria vaccination campaign aimed at children in the country that will continue until November. We are working with them to complement that campaign with a donation of 35,000 insecticide-treated mosquito nets (PermaNet 3.0). I am in awe of those who run towards emergencies, committed to delivering essential health services in the face of unimaginable situations. My hope is that the men and women at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and others fighting malaria and disease in war zones across the world are able to do their jobs in safety. https://lnkd.in/duWFnndw
