Certified Professional Career Coach & Resume Writer ♦ Empowering Clients with Interview Coaching, Roleplaying Tough Questions, & New Career Directions
What a powerful look at what #nurses "wish they had known" before entering the profession. My favorite reflection comes from Karie Ryan, MS, BSN, RN, CENP, who says "Bedside #nursing is not the only option." As a #careercoach, I constantly challenge my clients to explore and capitalize on their #transferableskills as they consider professional shifts. Even if such a move takes you from one specialized industry to a different sector altogether, there is always a way to position how what you’ve learned, practiced, and delivered in a demanding environment can make a dramatic impact elsewhere. #militaryveterans making a shift to the #civilian workplace is another perfect example. Be sure to see in the video how institutions like University of New England are addressing the forecasted U.S. shortage of 78,000+ nurses in 2025 with fast-tracked training programs that don’t skimp on quality care. I've been feeling this to my core lately. #Nursing is at a critical point that will make or break the #sustainability of our profession. However, we have an abundance of nurses unwilling to work in the current climate of direct #patient care. ⭐ We can't #train, #hire, or "pizza party" our way out of the problem. ⭐ We need foundational changes that help create stability for the future like: 🌟🌟🌟 Modernizing the #reimbursement structure for #nurses across all healthcare delivery systems. Commission for Nurse Reimbursement 🌟🌟🌟Recognizing nursing as an academic and professional discipline to unlock millions of dollars and accelerate the growth of the #workforce. Nursing Is STEM 🌟🌟🌟Creating sustainable training and resources for nurses to help them meet their highest professional aspirations and support them through times of #burnout. Nurses deserve to be millionaires I think that will be the title of my next book. For many of us we became nurses to help others, to be of service. As nurses we truly are in the business of nurturing, and taking care of those in need. With that being said we are expected to do so much because we care and then accept what we are paid. This is one reason why we are burntout and constantly fighting to get what we deserve. We are demonized at times when we talk about money and how much we are being paid but the cost of living and caring for ourselves and our families are priorities we cannot ignore. Why are we not supposed to ask for more? I wonder sometimes if it's because nursing is a female dominated field, that we don't receive compensation commensurate with our experience and expertise Nurses deserve more and I am inspired by Rebecca Love RN, MSN, FIEL and the initiative for the Commission for Nurse Reimbursement. I encourage Nurses who are ready for a change to reflect on your value. We deserve to be millionaires and there are many ways to get there while still being of service and having an impact. #nursesoflinkedin #nurses #nurseentrepreneur #innovation

It’s a common misconception that to advance in your nursing career, you must leave your job and go back to school full-time. While some may choose this path, it’s far from the only option available to nurses looking to grow their careers. The truth is, there are numerous flexible and practical ways to further your education and skill set without stepping away from your profession. ✨ Here’s the Reality: Once you’ve earned your registered nurse (RN) license, your career journey is just beginning. Whether you’re considering completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or pursuing an advanced degree to become a nurse practitioner (NP), the options are vast and varied. Beyond these, there are specialized degree and certificate programs that allow you to focus on areas you’re passionate about, all while boosting your income potential and career advancement. . Clinical research | Project Lead | Acute care & Emergency Nurse | Dynamic and passionate about learning
🚀💉 Calling all nursing graduates! Let's talk about starting your career on the right foot. 🎓 👩⚕️ An unpopular opinion I wish I'd heard during my nursing journey: Start with the specialty you genuinely love. 🌟 👂 Hear me out: Many advised starting on a general med-surg floor for a smoother transition into critical care. While that advice has its merits, I propose the opposite approach. 💡 Ontario's Nursing Graduate Guarantee program offers a golden opportunity for new grads. With up to 12 weeks of paid training and mentorship, it's a chance to dive deep into your preferred specialty. 🔍 Imagine honing your skills in the high-stakes environment you're passionate about, with guidance to learn, unlearn, and grow without risking patient safety. 💭 Reflecting on my journey, I realize how beneficial it would have been to start in my desired specialty right away. While my transition to emergency nursing was smooth, the NGG initiative could have turbocharged my progress. 🤔 What are your thoughts on this approach? Share your experiences and let's empower the next generation of nurses to pursue their passions from day one! 💪💬 #NursingGraduates #SpecialtyStart #CareerAdvice #NGGInitiative #nurses #nursesonlinkedin #PassionInPractice 🌟

I never wanted to be a nurse. I did it anyway. I thought becoming a nurse was a way for me to provide for my family. Nobody told me in 20 years I would be a 46 year old traumatized and stuck in a career I despise. I despise it for the insurance companies lack of coverage. I despise it for the employers just trying to make their next million.I despise it because I thought nursing was a professional career, turns out it's not. I have been told I should be proud I am a nurse, I'm not. I am no better off now after 20 years of wasting my life. Nursing salaries have been frozen for 10 or more years. What happens to those of us who have put there "time" in and getting nothing in return. We are tired of training baby nurses who make the same or more than we do. We are tired of baby nurses just winging it because they were not prepared in clinical settings. Bring back nursing as a profession, bring back hands on clinicals in nursing schools. Bring back required nursing experience for critical care. Is there even a question as to why experienced nurses are leaving the bedside. We are tired, our body hurts, and we are done struggling. #nurse #experience #professional #Healthcare #nursingshortage #nursingsalary #trauma

#Day 2 How I failed to niche down at the early stage of my nursing career……………… In the early stages of my nursing career, I encountered a challenge that many professionals face, especially those blessed with multipotentiality: the reluctance to niche down. This lack of focus meant I was competent in many areas but didn’t possess the deep expertise that specialized roles require I found myself competent in various areas but lacking the deep, specialized expertise that certain roles demanded. It was a jack-of-all-trades scenario, proficient yet not expert. Recognizing this, I learned that honing in on a specific area allows for deeper knowledge, more targeted job opportunities, and greater personal fulfillment. Here’s a practical hack: ✅ Start by identifying your strongest interest or the most in-demand niche in nursing. ✅ Pursue specialized training or certifications in that area. ✅ Actively participate in professional groups and forums related to your niche. Remember, specializing transforms you into a sought-after expert, opening doors to growth and satisfaction in your nursing career. Please like, share, and comment if you find this helpful.
