In 2022, B Lab Global embarked on our first JEDI Strategic Plan as an organization, set to run through the next three years. Halfway through our three-year process, Ellonda L. Williams, Ed.D., B Lab’s Director of Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, shares an update on what we’ve learned. Successes such as strong leadership commitment and a systematic approach facilitating course correction has punctuated our work so far. However, she underscores the need to balance leadership ownership with staff inclusion for diverse perspectives and power distribution in decision-making in the year ahead. Ellonda now shares how the experience has reminded us that the JEDI journey is often unclear and far from linear: “Like so many other aspects of organizational development, there is a ripple that flows in both directions and major changes in an organization will absolutely affect the impact of your efforts.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eahFkKpK

Every quarter, the OCEC team is reunited for our Pit-Stop meeting - the chance to discover what other departments have been working on, new employee-led initiatives for our well-being, and cross-departmental successes on events or projects! Why is this important? ➡ We don't celebrate at the end, we celebrate everyday, and particularly during Pit-Stop to foster team motivation and dedication. ➡ We engage with each other on an informal basis, creating bonds between colleagues and supporting better collaboration. This year, we used the Sports Spark facilities for our team building activities and discovered some hidden talents along the way! ➡ We create empathy - this is the most important outcome of regular staff events. It allows us to understand what our colleagues have been through in the past few months and have visibility on their achievements and challenges. The OCEC has been doing extremely well this year, on target for more than 250 events, including major international ones coming up in Q4. Seeing the team thrive is the foundation of our success. #Wheretheworldmeets #leadership

Friends of TRF know we greatly respect Doug Conant, but do you know why he's such an impactful leader? At the start of Conant's tenure at Campbell's Soup, its culture was poor and its employee experience was negative. For this reason, one of his first moves was to introduce the "Campbell Promise" ie. Campbell valuing people, people valuing Campbell. This emphasised the importance of leading with civility and respect and played a central role in ultimately transforming the organisation. To further drive home this concept, Conant also established the prestigious Influence with Honor Award, whereby select individuals could be celebrated for embodying the new and improved Campbell's company culture. Of course, this exciting award was one of the top honours a Campbell's employee could earn! Want to hear about other companies who successfully used recognition in their change management strategies? Kindness in leadership isn't just a momentary act—it leaves a lasting impression. Every interaction we have with employees matters. People might forget the specific tasks or deadlines, but they won’t forget how you made them feel. 🤝 In the staffing industry, where relationships are at the heart of everything, a simple gesture of kindness can go a long way. It fosters trust, builds loyalty, and creates a lasting bond. It’s amazing how a little empathy and understanding can make an employee feel valued beyond their role. 🌟 At Deerfield Employment Solutions, we strive to be more than just leaders—we aim to be the ones who create positive memories for those we work with. Let’s remember, every act of kindness counts. Chairman of Newleaf Academy | Entrepreneur & Innovator | Transforming Lives Through Personal Development | Strategic Visionary | Advocate for Health & Wellness
Why I Believe in the Power of Community Success is rarely a solo journey. It’s the power of community that truly makes a difference. Throughout my career, I’ve achieved some significant milestones. From leading successful business ventures to launching New Leaf Academy. But one thing has remained constant... I’ve never done it alone. Whether it was my team in the boardroom, my family at home, or the incredible network of professionals and friends around me, my community has always been my greatest strength. They’ve held me accountable, offered support in tough times, and celebrated the wins by my side. At New Leaf Academy, we’ve built a similar community where everyone—clients and coaches alike—supports each other’s journey to better health and well-being. Because when you surround yourself with people who believe in your potential, you’re already halfway there. Remember, the people you surround yourself with will shape your future. Choose your community wisely. It’s the backbone of personal and professional growth. #CommunitySupport #PersonalGrowth #Teamwork #NewLeafAcademy #Leadership

As Homecoming Spirit Week rolls around, there's always excitement in the air—students dressing up, showing their school pride, and coming together as a community. But beyond the fun and creativity, there’s an opportunity for leadership, engagement, and trust-building. In Admiral William McRaven’s book ‘The Wisdom of the Bullfrog’ one leadership lesson stands out: “You can’t surge trust.” Trust is something you build over time, and as leaders, we must be present and engaged with those we serve—whether it’s staff, colleagues, or students. That’s why it’s so important for us to participate in events like Spirit Week. Dressing up alongside students might seem small, but it’s a powerful way to connect on a personal level. When we engage in the same activities, show our own enthusiasm, and share the spirit of our school, we strengthen the bonds of trust. It’s not just about wearing a costume or joining an event; it’s about showing students that we’re in this together. Leadership isn’t a title or a role—it’s a relationship, built on moments of shared experience and genuine connection. Let’s continue to lead by example and make Spirit Week a time for fun, connection, and community-building!
