🚧 Yesterday, we had a great safety session at our Ben Hill Plant led by Area Safety Manager Deshawn Glenn. Deshawn covered the “Five Keys of the Smith System,” which is an essential part of our commitment to ensuring safety on the road. The Five Keys of the Smith System include: 1. Aim High in Steering - Keep your eyes on the big picture to anticipate potential hazards. 2. Get the Big Picture - Stay alert to everything happening around you to stay safe. 3. Keep Your Eyes Moving - Constant vigilance helps avoid unnecessary surprises. 4. Leave Yourself an Out - Position your vehicle where you have the best chance of avoiding a collision. 5. Make Sure They See You - Use your signals properly and ensure that you’re seen by others around you. Check out this snapshot of Deshawn engaging with the team. It’s all about keeping safety talks engaging and practical. Do you use the Smith System or similar guidelines where you work? Drop a comment and let’s chat about keeping our workplaces safe! #SafetyFirst #SmithSystem #TeamThomas #NationalSafetyMonth

Looks like a great system! I cannot tell how tall the ladder with the enclosed cage is (whether the change in elevation is beyond 24') but I would appreciate your thought process in installing a caged ladder instead of providing a personal fall arrest system or a ladder safety system. Also, how is fall prevention accomplished at the top of this ladder? Thank you for any insight that you are able to provide!
