They're the quickest way to decarbonize transport, but not the sole solution. 📊 Numbers Game: USA needs 90% EVs on roads by 2050 to meet targets. To hit 90% EV target, sales of new ICE vehicles must stop by 2038. 🔋 Battery Challenges: Lithium-ion battery production and mining have environmental costs. Mining: Depletes water resources, leads to soil degradation, and habitat destruction. Energy-Intensive Production: Contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. ⚡ Challenges Ahead: Transitioning to EVs needs massive investments. Trillions in subsidies, charging infrastructure, and convincing ICE owners. 💡 Reality Check: 1.25 to 2 billion ICE vehicles may still be on roads by 2050. Electric cars & Hybrids are definitely better than gas guzzlers, however truly addressing climate change (and housing affordability) requires the option to bike, walk, and roll.
