I have this memory I refer to often when I reflect on my time at Continental Tire in Sumter. It was plant tour day and the big boss was visiting. My team had huge roles in the plant tour and they were juggling 50 other things. My colleague Haden and I (who didn’t have any role in the tour) messaged one another and decided to divide and conquer to help them. We worked together to get the team prepared by printing stuff out, going on the shop floor and setting the display boards up, and even preparing talking points. Come plant tour time, the team was ready to present. Haden and I often did this without being asked. Why? Because our team needed us! That’s what a team does. They support and assist one another. We worked (played) for our team… Even when the plant wasn’t “winning.” Even when our plate was filled with responsibilities. Even when we were tired. Even when it wasn’t listed in our job description. EVEN WHEN WE DIDN’T LIKE SOMEONE. Even when we didn’t agree with them. Even when they messed up. If you are a leader, this is the first thing that should be explained, preached, and expected. It should be evaluated and rated too. Raffaele tells us: "I joined the company in the summer of 1997, in the nascent shed that was still under construction, during a period of intense growth. It has been a path that has given me a deep and broad understanding of our industry and prepared me for my current leadership role in #Marketing, although I still maintain a strong connection to Production". Tradition - a source of inspiration for leadership and sales enablement. After four long years of waiting, Imst celebrated the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Imster Schemenlaufen. This traditional event has striking parallels to leadership and sales enablement. The colorful characters that parade through the streets of Imst represent diverse characters (Spring and winter) - much like successful leaders who adapt to different situations while understanding the unique needs of their teams. The Imster Schemenlaufen reflects the dynamic nature of sales enablement. Like the masked characters, salespeople must skillfully navigate different perspectives while capturing the essence of individual customer needs. This tradition teaches us that successful sales enablement must not be uniform; it is about tailoring it to meet the needs of the human. For me, the Imster Schemenlaufen shows us that smooth collaboration is crucial - just as it is in management positions and sales. Effective leadership requires fostering a collaborative spirit to ensure that every team member plays a key role in striving for success. Its essence emphasizes the importance of adaptability, understanding diverse perspectives, and fostering collaboration.
