#Biophotonics innovation in #healthcare: A recent study explores the potential of multispectral autofluorescence imaging for early detection of oral cancer. By analyzing fluorescence patterns in oral lesions, researchers using #MachineLearning achieved 85% sensitivity and 78% accuracy in distinguishing cancerous/precancerous from benign lesions. This technology marks a promising step towards more effective diagnostic tools in oral healthcare. Read about the study's findings, and implications for clinical practice, in the new SPIE journal #BiophotonicsDiscovery: https://lnkd.in/gG-RzaiS

💡 Our research grants are critically important to moving desmoid tumor science forward for the good of patients. The DTRF is the only foundation in the country solely dedicated to funding desmoid tumor research and finding a cure for each and every patient. At the September 2023 DTRF International Research Workshop and DTRF Scientific & Medical Advisory Board meeting, a key research priority was identified: learning why some desmoid tumors spontaneously regress. The 2024 grant cycle is for a planning grant to develop teams and/or preliminary data toward a larger grant to address questions around spontaneous tumor regression. 🔗 Please read the RFP guidelines for more information: https://lnkd.in/e83BcQpg Full Grant Application Deadline: Friday, June 14, 2024. Please direct any questions to us at research@dtrf.org. #research #DTRF #DesmoidTumorResearchFoundation #desmoid #desmoidtumor #desmoidawareness #aggressivefibromatosis #Desmoidian #desmoidresearch

When diagnosing ILD, the radiologist is your best friend. It is a diagnosis of exclusion, warranting careful correlation of radiologic patterns with clinical features. If adequately diagnosed, it can save lives, and allow patients to stay on highly effective anticancer drugs for longer. Proud to share our latest educational article, just out in Insights Into Imaging, delving deep into the radiologist’s role in detecting cancer treatment related ILD. In the article, we highlight the patophysiology, radiologic patterns and best practices for the diagnosis, monitoring and management of this important condition. In a comparative sensitivity study of neuroendocrine neoplasms (NEN), Synaptophysin exhibited the highest sensitivity at 93.3%, followed by INSM1 at 89.2% and chromogranin A at 87.5%. KEY NOTE: Unlike Synaptophysin and Chromogranin A, INSM-1(MRQ-70) expresses in the Nuclei for a much cleaner Interpretation! 😍 #IHC #Immunohistochemistry #Histology #Pathology
The first NordiQC assessment of INSM1 as an IHC marker for neuroendocrine differentiation has now been conducted, and the data analysis being in progress. More than 150 laboratories participated, and we look forward to present the consolidated data on “best practice protocols” for this relatively new IHC target. INSIM1 has in many publications and recently by the study of K Möller et al https://lnkd.in/dUHf_KJ3 been highlighted as a valuable marker for neuroendocrine differentiation. The assessment material comprised relevant normal and neoplastic tissues - Appendix and pancreas as normal positive and negative tissue controls. - Small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) and neuroendocrine carcinoma, expected to be positive. - Lung adenocarcinoma without neuroendocrine differentiation, expected to be negative. Both the individual results and the general assessment report will be published on the NordiQC website in July. #NordiQC #Immunohistochemistry #Pathology #Quality #Proficiencytesting

A vital meta-analysis featured in BMJ Open examines the efficacy of contrast-enhanced MRI (CEMRI) and CT (CECT) in monitoring hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) post-transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). The study scrutinizes 5843 patient cases across 36 studies, revealing that CEMRI not only demonstrates high sensitivity and specificity but also exceeds CECT in overall diagnostic value. This finding emphasizes CEMRI's superior ability to guide clinicians in treatment responses, potentially leading to more informed and effective patient care decisions. As the study suggests, investing in advanced imaging technologies like MRI could be pivotal in enhancing cancer treatment outcomes. #InnovationInHealthcare #MRIvsCT #PatientOutcomes

🎇 New research reveals the mechanism of cachexia: Cachexia affects more than half of cancer patients, leading to 20% of deaths. A key feature is adipose atrophy, yet its underlying mechanism remains unclear. A recent article published in Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, using mouse models, demonstrated that white adipose tissue browning may be an early manifestation of cachexia, preceding weight loss and muscle wasting. Through analysis of extraular vesicle proteins from tumor s, GRP75 was identified as a key mediator of adipocyte browning. GRP75 binds to ANT2, enhancing its interaction with uncoupling protein 1, thereby promoting browning. The GRP75 inhibitor withanone can reverse this process and alleviate cachexia. 💐 💐 💐 This study unveils a novel mechanism by which GRP75 regulates adipocyte browning, providing a new target for early intervention in cachexia. 🌺 🌺 🌺 https://lnkd.in/eqWKHn94 For more push, please follow #Twitter: https://lnkd.in/gntQ9qE7 Related Product Recommendation: #Withanone (https://lnkd.in/ejSQHhkd); #ProteinA/GMagneticBeads (https://lnkd.in/gmMKcw8c); #AntiFlagMagneticBeads (https://lnkd.in/gi-ixv8z); #AntiGSTMagneticBeads (https://lnkd.in/gQn7Qg6r); #Dexamethasone (Hexadecadrol; Prednisolone F; https://lnkd.in/gwxAJ7p8); #Isobutylmethylxanthine (3-Isobutyl-1-methylxanthine; IBMX; https://lnkd.in/gu_GMWSF) #SignalTransductionAndTargetedTherapy #GRP75 #Cachexia #MCE #MedChemExpress
