A bold move by Singapore's aviation sector to accelerate the use of sustainable aviation fuel. Singapore has introduced a plan to reduce carbon emissions in its aviation sector, called the Singapore Sustainable Air Hub Blueprint. The blueprint, developed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), mandates the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for flights departing from Singapore starting in 2026. It also aims to reduce domestic aviation emissions by 20% by 2030 compared to 2019 levels, with a long-term goal of achieving net-zero emissions from both domestic and international flights by 2050. #sustainabletourism #sustainabletravel #sustainableaviation #sustainableaviationfuel

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY: WHERE ARE WE? In October 2021, the global aviation industry set a goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, aiming to enhance flight efficiency up to 90%, transition to sustainable fuels, and reduce CO2 emissions by 80% compared to fossil fuels. ⚡ The aviation sector has been witnessing a trend towards sustainable development in recent years. Indeed, it has been proven that environmental protection goes hand in hand with the aviation industry's advancement, aligning with Vietnam's sustainable goals and, most importantly, the long-term health of the planet. ☀ The positive recovery and growth of both international aviation and domestic tourism in Vietnam also highlight the necessity of building a sustainable aviation industry. This includes focusing on activities and campaigns to promote green environmental efforts in Vietnam and globally, such as improving fuel efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions. 🛫 Proudly representing the national brand, Vietnam Airlines is gradually approaching projects aimed at sustainable values in the aviation sector. Starting with practical solutions to conserve resources and reduce waste, we aspire to be an inspiration for the community to join in protecting our green planet. #VietnamAirlines #4StarAirline #4Stars4You

Vietnam Airlines has made a significant leap towards sustainability by refueling its Airbus Aircraft A321 with blended Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at Changi Airports International Pte Ltd, Singapore. This historic flight, which took off on May 27th, marked Vietnam Airlines as the first airline from Vietnam to utilize SAF on a commercial passenger flight. Nguyen Chien Thang, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, emphasized the airline's commitment to sustainability, stating, “Vietnam Airlines believes that the use of SAF will help create a more sustainable future for the aviation industry, providing passengers with both excellent service quality and environmental friendliness.” In collaboration with Neste, the world’s leading producer of SAF, Vietnam Airlines is taking proactive steps to reduce its carbon footprint and support the global push towards net-zero emissions. Carrie Song, Senior Vice President Commercial Renewable Business at Neste, highlighted Neste’s dedication to supporting customers in their decarbonization efforts. This initiative not only underscores Vietnam Airlines' dedication to environmental stewardship but also sets a precedent for other airlines in the region to follow. 💡A perfect time be actionable. # Sustainability in Aviation. It's an invaluable chance and privilege to be among the guest speakers for the upcoming X space hosted by Avihub Network on the 12th September 2024,from 7:30 pm till 8:30 pm (EAT). Joined in with me as the speakers will be Ian Kamuri and Afema Ronnie, while moderated by Pollet Kang'oe. The main topic is Sustainability in aviation, but a major focus on the African continent's efforts in achieving the industry commitment to Fly Net Zero by 2050. Fly Net Zero is a commitment of airlines to achive Net Zero carbon by 2050 which supports the Paris Agreement's temparature goal. This was passed by IATA member airlines on October 2021. ICAO adopted a Long-term aspirational goal (LTAG) of Net zero CO2 emissions by 2050 on October 2022 by member states, the resolution directs them to have State Action Plans that are actionable and focused to enhance sustainable strategies within the industry. 🔑The X- space conversation will dive into important key topics Sustainable Aviation Fuels, New technology- Electric and Hydrogen, Infrastructure and Operational Efficiencies and well as CORSIA and Offsets. I'll have the privilege to handle the following key topics. ✳️Other key strategies to be utilized towards net zero carbon emissions. ✳️The importance of sustainability to airlines in the core of their business strategies. ✳️The roles customers play in pushing airlines to be more sustainable. ✳️The future of African aviation evolving as it continues to put efforts into sustainable practices. Everyone cordially invited to the space to gain on the insightful conversation over the most concerning talk in the industry.
