"I knew Villa St. Francis would be a good fit for my mother when we had a tour. The staff members seemed to care for their residents like family when we walked down the halls and the admissions coordinator’s personality was light and bubbly. I knew the staff will treat my mom like their own mothers. The admissions coordinator was very helpful. Very caring people." #TestimonialTuesday #VSF

IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF A PERMANENT AND LASTING SOLUTION TO THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS AND HOMELESSNESS, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM! THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8 Additionally, local, state and federal housing agencies should look to the Helsinki, FINLAND MODEL of ending homelessness by providing affordable housing for all 'It’s a miracle': Helsinki's radical solution to homelessness https://lnkd.in/er9HZSQU Even the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development AGREES THAT adopting FINLAND'S MODEL OF ERADICATING HOMELESSNESS may be of great value to resolving the affordable housing and homelessness crises in America https://lnkd.in/gkSZWYRU

Heading home from a bias-confirming day in #Westminster hosted by No5 Barristers' Chambers. We can choose to be blunt or sensitive about it, but a #supermajority of the audience agreed that #greenbelt is no longer fit for purpose and should be replaced by a new policy which covers the whole country rather than just 15 urban areas. The #greenbelt may be the best-known planning policy there is or ever has been, but it is fundamentally unfair, ignoring vast swathes of the country that are entitled to consideration just as much as anywhere else #leicester #lincoln #lancaster #ipswich #norwich #peterborough #stratford to name but a few. Stronger protections already exist in the #NPPF or via designation as an #AONB or #nationalpark. There are clear examples of where green belt is the most sustainable choice for much-needed publicly accessible open spaces, GP surgeries, schools, and yes, #homes, near to where people already live. Where we have existing public transport assets, we have a civic duty to make the most of them. Kudos to Turley planning aficionado Fiona Lee-McQueen MRTPI who was as eloquent as ever in making the case for a #newgovernment giving LPA officers “an out” in the short term to be able to approve applications now in order to deliver the #housing the country needs quickly rather than encouraging a #planningbyappeal system in which the only winners, perhaps ironically, are the #barristers. Thanks for hosting though!

Supporting Residents of Housing Sector. Giving a voice to the many unheard and ignored. If I reach out to connect to you it's usually just to gain your sector knowledge and guidance, always grateful.
The only way to truly understand the issue is by gaining insights from firsthand accounts. If you wish to understand the problem, engage directly with the people it's affecting. Sometimes people just need to be heard.
This morning I have set up office at the Porch in Oxford, providing a drop in service to Oxford residents as part of the Safe, Warm & Dry campaign. https://lnkd.in/eTsYFgzm #HousingSector #WarmSafeDry

This is going to be another excellent session at #VLR2024! Fair Housing is such an interesting and nuanced topic. Looking forward to the information and the insights that will be shared.
VA Managers, what is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the words, "Fair Housing?" If it's, "Ugh", it's because you've never been to the Best D*mn Fair Housing Course in Virginia and it's coming to #VLR2024. This class is not just for common interest community managers who need to obtain credit and are eager to learn about federal and state fair housing laws and regulations. It is also an excellent dialogue on common fair housing issues community associations and their managers encounter. Sure, you may have attended other fair housing courses in the past, but there is always room to build on what you know (or think you know) and hear a new take so you are better equipped to identify and properly respond to a fair housing matter. Don’t just attend for the credit. Join us to have fun, learn about the laws, discuss common scenarios that communities and their managers may not realize involve fair housing pitfalls, and hear about best practices you and your associations can employ. Warning: One of the presenters really geeks out over discussing fair housing matters. She cannot help herself (just wait to see how she gets excited about their educational chart). This course meets the bi-annual requirement for two (2) hours of fair housing training required by 18 VAC 48-50-100 of the Virginia Common Interest Community Manager Regulations for certification as a certified principal or supervisory employee. We cannot wait for this session! #vlr2024 #education #fairhousing
