Pioneers of F1 Hybrid #Strawberries in the spotlight! They deserve it, since they make the major transition in the the strawberry industry possible. The transition from clonal raised varieties to F1 seed raised varieties.
The first Pioneer is Gipmans Young Plants. It all starts with sowing Limgroup's first F1 hybrid strawberry: #Limore One.

An interesting change in strawberry farming! If the right steps are not taken, then it will remain very limited. We will be following global test periods and results.
With the transition from clonal strawberry plants towards seed raised strawberry plants, a giant step in plant uniformity for growers comes at reach. Together with the Pioneers of F1 Hybrid Strawberries, Limgroup works to bring this transition coming alive.
One of the Pioneers in this transition is Van den Elzen Plants. In close cooperation with Gipmans Young Plants and Van der Avoird Trayplant BV, they are working to define the optimal young plant, raised from Limgroup's F1 Hybrid Strawberries.

A game changer needs also parties who join this game change. Limgroup's F1 hybrid strawberries are a game changer for the strawberry industry. And the Pioneers of F1 hybrid strawberries join this game change. In a series of interviews, all pioneers are asked why they want to join this ride.
This time Harrie Jonker of FruitMasters is interviewed. Harrie saw the potential of Limore One, Limgroup's first F1 hybrid strawberry, right from the beginning. Read in article below, why Harries believes in the transition from clonal to F1 hybrid strawberry varieties:

The change from clonal bred strawberry varieties towards F1 hybrid strawberries doesn't happen overnight. In order to manage this transition well and to secure that the benefits of this impactfull change for the strawberry industry are kept thoughout the whole value chain, Limgroup created the 'Pioneers of F1 Hybrid Strawberries'. These pioneers believe in this transition.
One of the Pioneers of F1 Hybrid Strawberries is Delphy ISFC. The reason why they believe in this transition is explained by Marc van Tilburg, Senior Advisor Strawberries. For details I refer to below link.

Beginning the very first year of my career in the seed industry, I was granted the opportunity to trial and compare different varieties. My backyard had about 1/2 dozen Kentucky bluegrass varieties. It's where I actually learned first-hand terms like "spring greenup". Thus began a fascination with the amazing unique life of plants. Over the past decade, roots have simply geeked me out. They are just amazing.
Well, how to you learn about something underground without digging it up and destroying it? BUCKETS! Whether or not it is an official term, when I say "bucket-study", I mean something where a plant is grown in a portable above-ground container for the main purpose of looking at the plant as a whole - from top to bottom.
This past winter, we looked at seven different legumes using cloth "buckets" that were 18" deep by 6" wide. Also, as part of the study, I planted a number of individual seeds in 2" trays, and then transferred some into clear plastic cups. The primary "garden" was the cloth buckets. By planting enough seeds, I could harvest them - shoots and roots - at various intervals, measure and take photos, and let the others continue to grow.
Now that we have the video data, we are combining them into various videos. We have two sets of them on Marco Polo white clover. And with the help of AI, we even have a nice voice-over. We even captured new root growth off of stolons. Check it at either of these links: https://lnkd.in/efi_7v-8 and https://lnkd.in/eQMGdyrr

The pinch is critical for setting your poinsettia crop up for correct branching and profile. In this short video, experts from Selecta One - North America cover when and how to pinch, as well as reminding growers the plants don’t need to be rooted fully to the pot edge before pinching. They show examples of plants with a range of leaf counts in an effort to help you hit the finished spec you and your retail customers are targeting. https://lnkd.in/gT73pYrV#greenhouse#horticulture#ballseed#poinsettias#techtip#techondemand#greenhousetechteam
